cruisinmom1 Posted October 23, 2011 #1 Share Posted October 23, 2011 Any ideas on best place to stay and leave our car in New Orleans for the VOS? Thanks so much in advance!
adjburch Posted October 23, 2011 #2 Share Posted October 23, 2011 I live close to New Orleans and go there a lot and I feel I should tell you that as far as I know, there is NO place that you can stay and then leave for a week and leave your auto unless the CASINO doesn't know. Maybe that would be your best bet. Get a room at the only casino they have. I have stayed there and it isn't bad. Don't get the cheapest room. Get it for just the night before the cruise and maybe the night your cruise returns??? Either way, they have parking. Parking use to be FREE at the casino but I have not been there is a long time so I do not know if it's still free. Other than the casino, to my knowledge there is NO FREE PARKING other than maybe a hospital. Even the airport is pay to park. Did you post this on the roll call as well???????? tuxedocat2 Posted October 23, 2011 #6 Share Posted October 23, 2011 We have a reservation at the Holiday Inn New Orleans Downtown Superdome for a park and cruise. One night at the hotel and 8 nights parking with shuttle to the port (but need taxi back to pick up car.) Our cost was $171 including tax for December 9. antiquejunkie Posted October 23, 2011 #8 Share Posted October 23, 2011 We were on the Triumph in Dec. 2009. We stayed at the New Orleans Convention Center Hotel and they had stay and park. We took the shuttle to the port, but had to take taxi back to hotel. I was about $180.00. It was nice. This year we are on the VOS on Dec 17 and decided to park at terminal because of mobility issue with one of our group. We are staying about an hour outside of NO. Rate is less that 75.00 at a Country Inn and Suites. Leah
mafig Posted October 23, 2011 #9 Share Posted October 23, 2011 I'm looking for next year when Navigator is the ship. From the research I've done, some of these prices seem high. Many people (judging from the Gulf Departures board) are getting prices from $99 to 139). Also, I don't think Drury is having the free parking anymore.:(
adjburch Posted October 24, 2011 #10 Share Posted October 24, 2011 I'm telling you folks you needs to check with Harrah's of New Orelans. I think you can just LEAVE your auto there and it will be safe. http://www.harrahsneworleans.com/casinos/harrahs-new-orleans/hotel-casino/property-home.shtml You can get a taxi from Harrah's and back. adjburch Posted October 24, 2011 #11 Share Posted October 24, 2011 You will see the Casino and the Terminal in the map. Just phone as ask Harrahs if they have FREE parking. Taxi ride to crusie ship and back will be cheap and I think your auto will be safe.
bayou cruiser Posted October 25, 2011 #12 Share Posted October 25, 2011 Try the Hilton Riverside. They had a cruise parking stay in the past, not sure if it's still available. I don't think Drury does the park/cruise anymore. I wouldn't try Harah's. Even if you gamble there you have to pay unless you get validated for gambling a certain amount of time. beta98beta Posted October 26, 2011 #14 Share Posted October 26, 2011 I was at Harrah's last month, they do not have free parking without gamble. If I remember correctly you had to gamble every 24 hours you were parked there. THere are machines inside he casino where you get the validation. I have Total Rewards Card with Harrah's and even with that... rate for one night (Dec 2) at casino was over $500! Ouch. They NEVER seem to have any deals at this casino. spiritkat090909 Posted October 27, 2011 #17 Share Posted October 27, 2011 What does the pier parking cost? Looks like $16/day or $112 for the week. http://www.portno.com/pno_pages/cruises_passenger_info.htm
Briarhill Posted October 27, 2011 #18 Share Posted October 27, 2011 We sail Monday on the Ecstasy, Sunday we will stay at the Maison St. Charles. They offer a park and cruise package. www.maisonstcharles.com
toddraz Posted October 28, 2011 #19 Share Posted October 28, 2011 Cruise package last June at Holiday Inn Superdome was $129+ tax ( I think) and parking for that night and for the cruise was free. Shuttle to the pier was free, but the cab ride back wasn't; although, it wasn't too bad either. $14 for two of us? Have a great trip. dixieshrake Posted October 29, 2011 #20 Share Posted October 29, 2011 We will be in NO April for a 7 day cruise and we're planning on parking at the Fulton Parking , I've seen good reviews for this. The price is 12$ a day verses 16$ at terminal and they will take you to your hotel or the port. We also booked a room at the Hilton through Hotwire for 94$ and that includes tax..... Web Posted October 29, 2011 #21 Share Posted October 29, 2011 We are cruising out of New Orleans in December, and we would like to park at a hotel rather than the pier. The two I have found are the Holiday Inn Superdome & the Maison St. Charles. Would y'all care to weigh in? on rates, amenities, the hotels themselves? thanks
