Real Adventures on a Cruise

I was on that Miracle cruise also. Oddly enough we barely noticed the impact. I was thinking that there would be a scratch or a dent of some sort. I was quite surprised to see the wide open 8' long gash in the side of the ship. I'll give Malcom credit. He stood out by the workers most if not all day answering any and all passenger questions. We talked to him that evening and he looked completely spent. I'm sure it was tiring aswering those questions and concerns from the passengers.

I was able to get some video of the repairs once we got back to Ft. Lauderdale fromt he water taxi.

All in all a pretty adventurous trip.
Occasionally people will talk about the adventures they are anticipating on a cruise- but most of them seem reasonably uneventful when it comes to real adventures. My cruises have been delightful, but hardly adventurous. I have read about some- the huge snowfall including feet of snow onboard, the Splendor trip with the fire- those are truly adventures. The kind of thing you look back on and say- Wow.

So- tell me about your adventures on board or in port. Would love to hear about them.
Last Carnival cruise ended up doing CPR on a guy that had a seizure in the casino-fortunately we got a pulse and he was taken to the infirmary. Don't know status after that.

That counts. Absolutely. And thank heaven's you knew CPR. That was one lucky guy.
Cruising on the Miracle last year when it slammed a concrete pier in St. Kitts. Put a gash in the ship that you could see through to the crew's quarters.
Carnival had to fly in welders and equipment from Miami and PR. We were delayed overnight but it was our last port and it didn't matter to us.

My dh said, "how are we going to get home?" My response was "who cares, we are in St. Kitts on a ship, Carnival is going to get us back to Ft. Lauderdale eventually."

They repaired the ship and a rep from Lloyds of London sailed back to Florida with us.

It was a good time and I have the pics to remember it by.
We were on that cruise too.:D Great time. Here is the damaged Miracle.

i walked into a glass on celebrity solstice in 2010, broke my nose, and had to go to dr in st martin. that was the adventure. on the van was a handsome young guy with a patch over his eye. he had stuck the menu in his eye. all the officers on ship knew me after that. broken nose wasn't too bad. did not let it spoil my fun. they kept calling the wrong room to reach my husband. when i got back to cabin he was sitting on balcony. i asked didn't he wonder why i was gone so long. he said he thought i had met someone and was talking.
basically we alway have good cruises. a few other interesting things over 25 years of cruising.

The most adventurous moment for me on a cruise actually took place on land....actually on a bus....while we were on an excursion from Montego Bay to the Appleton Rum Estate. The road between the two places was very windy and narrow, but you wouldn't know it by the way the bus driver drove.

Normally, I do not succumb easily to motion sickness, but on this bus ride, all bets were off! The trip took about an hour and most of it for me was spent trying not to ruin the trip for others by barfing all over the place. I've never been so mentally focused! Tight quarters, under-performing air conditioner, scenery flashing by the window in a blur, and sick stomach do not mix well. One very kind passenger gave me a scarf (which I still have tucked away in my sock drawer) to use to wipe the cold sweat from my neck and forehead. Luckily, I succeeded and did not ruin the trip for others.

I will never forget that trip. Strangely, the trip back to the ship was a piece of cake!
