Last Minute Questions!

Recommended Posts

We're on the Grandeur this Saturday, April 9. I'm just about totally packed but have a couple of questions.

1. According to our TA, on Friday we'll be picked up by RCI at the airport in New Orleans and taken to the Hotel Monaco for the night before we sail. Will we take all our bags to the hotel - how does this work? (I would prefer that myself.;) )

2. Do we put the RCI-provided luggage tags on our luggage before the flight to New Orleans, or once we are there and prior to boarding the ship?

Help!!!

Yep ML, I was just going to mention that too.

This will be our first RCI, but most all cruiselines work the same (CCL and DCL were identical) when it comes to luggage. If the tags are on, the luggage goes. Which would mean it would sit at the pier overnight and you would sit in your hotel room with no jammies. :)

Wait til you get to the hotel, or in the morning before you leave the hotel, then put the tags on.

Have a great cruise.

Debbie311, a couple of quick questions for you. I'm gathering that you booked your airfare with RCCL, which we are considering doing. Did your price include the transfers to the hotel, pier, back to airport, as well as the hotel costs??

Yes, we booked with RCCL and the price included all of the above, except we are staying over in NOLA for a couple of days post-cruise, so we will not be using the back-to-airport transportation.

Did you know they would fly you in the night before? Is this standard practice for RCCL? We are flying from Nova Scotia in the winter to FLL and worry if they don't fly us in the day before, we may miss our ship! I know they say they are responsible to get you to the ship at the next port, but I have NO interest in missing a day or two of my cruise. That would break my little heart. Just thought you might have an idea of how it works. I know you don't know about your airfare until weeks or even days before you leave. I really would have to know long before that, for peace of mind. Would RCCL tell me if I asked their procedure or do the telephone reps even know the answer?

I think you can almost always ask to fly in the day before if you are doing cruise air but you also have to agree to use the cruise line hotels which tend to be on the pricey side. But rather than missing the ship it would seem to be a worthwhile precaution.

Either talk to your TA if you got your cruise thru one or call RCI and tell them this is what you want and they should be able to arrange it.

Have a great next cruise.
