Anyone visited the Mud Volcano in Columbia?

Recommended Posts

We were quite excited about a trip to visit the mud volcano when we get to Columbia on the Christmas cruise, but then I read somewhere that its organic material decaying, and now my mind is working overtime wondering what the organic material is.

Can someone tell me whether its safe, and whether there are any hygiene precautions taken, eg shower before you get in as with blue lagoon in Iceland. What is the average temperature of the mud.And what happens when you get out, how 'clean' is the lake water?

If we don't do this trip what else can you recommend.
