Oasis of the Seas - Photo Review

Jenn its good to hear from you too, I just read your ncl pearl review and im really excited about going, im a little disapointed in the pool deck but think its nicer than the carnival victory, and since i dont have any mega ships to compare it to, it will do just fine for us. especially looking foward to freestyle because assigned dining is not really for us, im always late lol

I wish you had pictures of the thermal spa area and the white hot party cos im looking foward to that. As always your review was informative and entertaining.

oh the commercial lol Im still smileing when I think of it, that would be tooo funny!!! talking of seeing more than is good for anyone - im cruising with my mum and her friend , who came with us to turkey a few months ago, she accidently wore a bikini that came off on 3 seperate occasions! the top came off at the water park and river tubeing, and at pambukale her bottoms fell down lol that was the funniest ( if not most embarrassing) thing I have ever seen!!! im a little nervous about cruiseing with her, but I guess a cruise isnt a cruise if there isnt an nearly naked european onboard lol ( thinking back to the crazy french woman on our victory cruise) LMAO :p:D

I have wanted to go on liberty of the seas since I first discovered cruiseing (2008) and ncl epic is also top of my list, im sure once I try them i'll love the big ships and will want to try Oasis, I honestly dont think that the rccl website gives it justice, but you certainly do in this review and im in total awe looking at your pictures.

now that the sailboat in the virgin islands is cancelled, what ship are you gonna go on next? I know the other Jenn wants to do the new carnival breeze in europe, is that something you are also considering?

Thanks Nikki,

I felt the same way about the pool deck on the Pearl. It was small but still had a good vibe. Be sure and go to Teppanyaki. I think the Pearl was the best decorated ship I have ever been on. The Liberty (Freedom) however is my favorite but you will be very happy on the Pearl (BTW the Carnival Victory was by far my least favorite ship). Awww yes, those crazy nearly naked Europeans......Frenchie sure made for some fun memories. I hope she is doing okay (I had heard a rumor that perhaps she was on her last hurrah!

Anyway, thanks for reading. Hope to see you again someday.

PS For the virgin islands, we are just going to do it by land instead of sea. Definitely want to get back down there. If you are interested, here are my movies from NCL Pearl. They are much better than the one of river tubing :)

http://gallery.me.com/flipfloppincastaways#gallery

They are down in 2009 under NCL.....I left the main page up because there are also some videos from St Lucia, Barbados and Dominica from last year. Frenchie even makes and appearance in Dominica. Heck, for that matter in 2008 there are videos on board the Freedom (sister of Liberty) of the Seas. I do think the NCL ones will really show you the ship.

The reason I brought this up was because we went to the Baths in the virgin islands on that cruise and that day is why I want to get back there so back.

Well Jerry, Let me explain my thought process to you. I didn't know what to say cuz of course I totally deserved it being as I am so great. I was think about all the poor fools who have to compete with my superior reviewing skills and all the women who will be feeling bad about themselves because I am so gorgeous. And I thought....good, the world needs more people who try and be like me. And then I thought that really, I was in some ways, doing my part to better the planet by giving people such a high goal to aspire to emulate. Then I went in the bathroom and looked in the mirror and again told myself how awesome I was, then when I came back to respond to you, I was, frankly, exhausted so I just went with Thank you.

;)

Makes sense to me......I would think the cruise lines should be calling you shortly to pay for you to cruise and do reviews of their ships. :D

Thanks again for the great review!!

Jerry

Where do you sign up for that gig??? I want it. Actually,

even if they did, I'm not sure I would say yes. Now that I realize my greatness and responsibility to the betterment of the world. I'm thinkin' ......President! :D Then I can raise everyone's taxes and use it to cruise for free. Yipppeee!

Thanks for the kind words.

Rafting in Jamaica. I am wondering if I have a movie to share. I'll go check, wait here.

I do BUT it is really old so don't judge me. http://gallery.me.com/flipfloppincastaways#100684

The waterproof camera stunk..... seriously not my best work BUT if you fast forward past Dunns River Falls about 2/3 through the video you can see what the trip was like.

I don't know that we would have known that the water was deep there if Mike's dad hadn't picked that spot to fall in. The water moves swiftly but it's not a thrill ride. It's not like rafting in a river. More relaxing but still moves. I'm sure the time of year and the level of the water would impact this also. It does for rafting in Colorado.

Okay my two things to tell you about Jamaica.

1. My mom and dad took at tour through the ship. It was a Mo Bay city tour or something like that. They HATED it. Now for my mom to HATE anything is shocking. She is one of those people who finds a "best thing of my life....like pie, or movie, or book" everyday. She radiates sunshine. She HATED it. Don't say I didn't tell you so. She said that it was all poverty and they abandoned them for some amount of time in a fenced in shopping area and left and then came back later. I don't know what all she didn't like or what all they did but for my mom to say she HATED something, well it must have been bad.

2. Thshhhh, I have to tell the story of your adventure in Jamaica. Obviously since I wasn't there I will get it wrong so feel free to jump in. It's just such an OMG story. And because I can't humiliate myself anymore

I'll tell it to the tune of the Brady Bunch. Sing along if you know it.

It's a story, of a lovely lady

jumping on a water tramp with a boy

Then his knee flew up and hit her in the eye

not a real good dating ploy.

All at once the blood was gushing down her face.

The Jamaicans were all frantic to save her sight

the blood dripped into the water attracting a shark

It gave them a fright.

To the rescue was a friend that was swimming near

He had had a few, but don't tell him you know

He was running thru the water from the shark

lots of punches, he did throw.

Fin-a-lly ev-ery-one made it onto land

The shark took off without getting a meal

To the hospital she was quickly taken

It was a scary ordeal

Her stretcher was covered in another's blood

Here came the doctor, needle in his hand

She looked at him with terror in her eyes

And then ran from the man.

Back to the ship they safely did arrive

Stitches by the ship doctor soon were full-filled

And for a Royal Caribbean souvenir

They got a very large bill.

thshhhh, Did I get it right????

Great video. Thanks for that. It definitely showed what the river is like. I can't wait to do it. I'm like your mom, never hate anything. Always finding the silver lining in whatever i'm doing.

I want your family to go on another cruise so I'll have another great review to read

We, on the other hand, LOVED Oasis and would do it again! We plan to do Allure in 2013. It was big, but that didn't bother us at all. The walking didn't bother us either, but I think we were closer to the elevators than Jenn and her family were. There was so much to do and with 6000 passengers, they must have a ship big enough for all of us.:)

We had an OV balcony, so we saw the ocean every day, several times a day. The Royal Prom was really the only place where we would sometimes forget we were on a ship.

Hey Niki! I was going to email you soon to say hey! I'm glad to hear you are doing well and that you have your next cruise booked. We are going to New York City in a few weeks, so after that, we plan to book our Breeze cruise next year in Europe. I've already been researching and I am so excited for that one!! It's a 12-day and we get to see Spain, Italy, France and Croatia. We can't beat the price either, so we figured that was the best way to see Europe for the very 1st time!

hey Jenn! glad you enjoyed oasis and it lived up to your expectations, I know you planned it for like a year and probably put more thought into it than planning a wedding lol

I looked at that carnival breeze its quite a nice ship! the itinerary is great isnt it? you will have a great time and so will your daughter. I hope you write a review after with pictures so we can all see what it was like! ( no pressure but nobodys seen a review of the breeze or some of those ports - maybe you can be the first?) I hope you enjoy newyork, is it a christmas shopping trip? its coming around way too fast

OP JENN, thanks for the link to your pearl videos they are great. I wasnt that impressed with victory either it was more about the ports on that cruise, we just wanted to see the caribbean and the ship wasnt importaint, as long as theres food,a bar and a hot tub im good! next time we'll have 2 days at seas which Ive never had before

Hope you have a great time in st thomas and Tortola next year

Just want to repeat what everyone else has said, you are the greatest reviewer in the world and the best photographer on the planet ;) I did thoroughly enjoy your review. Can't wait for the next one, I know I know your head is getting bigger by the second :D I hope one day to meet you and your family on a cruise somewhere because I think we would actually MEET and MINGLE at the meet and mingle and become fast friends. Keep up the great work, I am off to read your Alaska review now!! The tubing video was great, it was amazing to see how much your kids have grown in a few short years.

Thanks again

Jen for president! Boy do I have you guys snowed.....I think I am getting much more kudos than I deserve but I am happy that you enjoyed it. I was having my girl friend read part of the Victory review, a part that I even thought was funny and she didn't laugh. I asked her if it wasn't funny. She said, " no, it's funny, I'm just used to you. " She has since been replaced!

You are on! I would love it!

Don't read it unless you want to go because, I didn't really want to go and it was the BEST trip we have taken. It was amazing, so reading the review, might cost you money.....but think of the memories! Let me know what you think.

The tubing video was great, it was amazing to see how much your kids have grown in a few short years.

Doesn't that freak you out to see. They go from babies to adult (at least sized) over night!

My mom just sent me this update on the jewelry class.....

Jen,

The beading class was free for all the classes. The first beading kit was free, it took about 2-3 classes to finish it. If you wanted to do another kit (they had about 8 kits to choose from) it cost $10 to buy it. I did 2 kits that took me about 5 classes to complete. Just sayin'……..

I love you, Mom

Hee hee, the one little boy right up front with his mouth WIDE open...I have a couple of those boys in MY class this year. I bet that teacher goes home and shares story after story about him. ;0)

I thought THE SAME THING! But what a great smile he had! :D

Loving your review Jennat! Loved your Alaska review right before my trip, now excited for this one before my next Caribbean one! Thanks so much!

We were just on the Allure in October and share your opinion. We also were fairly close to the elevator (stairs) and found the ship very easy to navigate. Some ships don't have a logical layout and you constantly are tying to find things. We found the Allure with the neighborhood concept to be fantastic.

We did schedule our week to be sure to catch the shows. But that left all the in between time for Flow Rider, the pools, etc.. We are now booked on the Oasis for next year.

I still do prefer the smaller ships but want to fully explore this class before stepping back down to the smaller guys (Radiance class is our fave)....

Thanks for an awesome review. Glad you all enjoyed your cruise. Sorry you didn't make it to the pool!

I also loved your review! So excited to be sailing on her in 4 weeks! I agree with you though the scheduling just doesn't seem right if you are on vacation but I scheduled anyway and can always cancel because something else might intrigue me! Thanks again for your review!

Amazing review!!!!!!!!!

We are doing the b2b on the Allure in September 2012. We have the boardwalk room on the opposite side to you but the top one right next to the glass sticky-outy thing which looks like some sort of ship driving room. Can you see love technical terms? ;-) Any chance you know what the sticky-outy thing is and if it would block the view of the water theatre much?

Cheers!!

Kristin

As said many times, great review, great photos! Really loved reading it. We are going on Oasis Mar 3 and are getting excited. We are in 10327 - too bad I didn't know about those balconies before I booked or I would have gone with deck 11. I have the feeling that my room will have the bed near the closet unfortunately. With 2 boys (16 and 11) I think the room is going to feel small. Did you get sun on the balcony or was it covered by the rock wall etc?

I'm glad I found this - fabulous review (I just noticed on page 14 that there wasn't any FOOD PORN)... SHows how great a reviewer you are!

Thanks for sharing with us. I have to go back & read your other reviews (since I spent most of the early years on Carnival boards)!

We didn't spend a whole lot of time out on the balcony in the daytime. I would imagine that it is sunny as long as the sun is over head. I don't remember being in the shade from anything. Certainly not the rock wall because it is on the end, past the rooms. Maybe the "bridge - " but I don't recall. It is so warm that I don't know that the shade would be a bad thing.

The "shooty out thingy" was the projection booth for the lights for the water show. We could still see fine but went to the balconies on the end for an even better view.

Cancruizer.....trust me when I say, with two boys 16 and 11 it you will feel the love (?) Maybe that is not the right word :D Very tight quarters. I have a 15 and 12 yr old and lordy lordy.

With two boys that age, I would also say, pack patience, noise cancelling headphones, and deodorant!

Betty, I am not into food porn. Not a lover of cruise food. Think it is fine. Looks like others do a good job of covering that area anyway. I do however take pictures of all my meals at home and share them on my face book page (kidding)

Thanks for all the nice words~!

AWESOME review! Hilarious! Your pictures are amazing and my kids enjoyed seeing them as much as I did. Thank you!

I am concerned now as we have booked Oasis in April in a BW balcony second to the end of the ship and the ocean balcony across the hall from it. I look forward to the view of the water shows and all, but the time we spend walking will be a lot! With 4 little kids we'll be running back and forth to the kids club all the time! If I'm not mistaken, that's all the way at the other end of the ship. Oh well, we'll walk all the extra calories off and plan ahead. I appreciate your tips. We'll pick shows and activities we really want to see and try not to feel like we have to see everything. I definately want lots of pool time. We want to experience the ship so much that we may not get off at all at Cozumel or Falmouth.

Thanks again! I'll have to look up your other reviews just because you're so darn funny!

Maybe I missed it because there are 4 little kids always distracting me, but did you arrange ahead of time to drop off school supplies and shoes for the kids? How? Love that! I think it would be cool for my kids to have an experience like that. Not sure this is the right time to do it, but definately thinking about it.
