Entertainment on Radiance

Recommended Posts

It will be interesting to hear about the entertainment on the Radiance as she cruises downunder.I thought the entertainment coming over from Honolulu was a bit hit and miss.I got a few strange looks fom people though when I stated that I preferred P&O entertainment.

You may be right:)

I was spoiled on my first cruise on the Pacific Sun.The cruise director was Demo, the funniest bloke ever.I also enjoyed listening to the band, Cabin Fever on our Pacific Pearl cruise last March.

Regards Elaine.

The ship itself is lovley but what a debarkle trying to get off when tendering

Airlie beach took us four hours waiting to get off then another hour and a half to get back on with no shade or seats:confused:

then we went to port douglas five hours waiting to get off (yes that isnt a missprint) and an hour to get bak on, the ship when tendering hasnt got it together, there was a lot of older people on board and if the sun had been out at airlie beach they would have been dropping like flys its a shame as they dont seem to think its a problem.

we had a 12am flight same thing when we got back took ages getting off as not organised then they tried to run a private tour past us to get off before us I dont think so.

All in all the ship itself and really really nice food ok but not great, if you have a cruise that dosnt need a lot of tendering it should be fine:D

If you want pacific questions answered please feel free to ask.

Jacquie

PS they took at least five hours to board as well just a debarkle all around I think

sheridan318, we are booked on this cruise for October next year. So I have questions :)

How many kids on board? We have 2 under 5 & hope this cruise attracts some families???

Did you stop in Port Headland or did they keep Broome in your Itinerary?

Was it really, really a geriatric cruise? We aren't party animals but do like to chat & socialise with others in our age group. Were there many mid 20's to 40's?? Who performed in the shows and what kinds of shows were they???

Did you do any ships tours? With the tendering debacle it sounds like it's the best way to go to ensure you get off first.

I hope you had a wonderful time in-spite of the waiting times. It would certainly have distressed me as my little kids have no patience.

Hi yes sorry to say it was definatly an older cruise we are both just turned 60 and we were young:D but saying that they did have a few families on board but not really many.

If you do the ship tours you will get off first thats for sure.

Entertainment definatly geared towards the older age group, but they might change that for next year I think its a learning curve for them so hopefully they will lift there game

HI Jacquie,

I am in the same age bracket as you and made the Mistake of going Rhapsodys first repositioning cruise from overseas to australia. We experienced similiar experience but when we sailed on her again 12 months later....all ironed out and the cruise was perfect in all aspects. We are doning the same cruise you just completed in Feb ...hope they sort it.

However we are booked on the Voyages first cruise next Nov.

Its a sham that these bigger ships are hamstrung by using OSPT...it just to restricive by the lack of infrastructure.

God help it when Voyager arrives...at least our 1st night is overnight in sydney.

I think it will all depend on the type of cruise you do, the timing etc (eg school holidays) and the number of nights onboard as to what sort of crowd you will have. The longer the cruise the more likely it is to be full of older folk as us young ones are either too busy working or don't yet have enough capital to afford longer trips, or even both reasons lol. ;):)

To be fair to RCL and Radiance there were a number of factors that contributed to the embarkation "debarkle" The ship had a code red norovirius alert coming into New Zealand which meant that as well as the staterooms being disinfected several times on the way to Sydney the entire ship had to be sanitized when arriving in Sydney This meant getting the existing passengers off the ship ASAP to give them sufficient time to do the clean up. As this was Radiance's first time in Sydney there were bound to be some procedure hic ups and the limited space at the OSPT meant that the new passengers could not be checked in as normal and had to be bused to Barrangaroo for check in and I guess when the all clear was given to embark there would have been a massive amount of people being processed at the one time instead of over the course of the day.

I would still be happier knowing the cruise line had my interest at heart by not allowing anybody on the boat until it was "sterilized" rather than letting passengers board a "sick" ship. Perhaps people should direct some of their anger toward the inconsiderate B_ _ _ _ _Ds who don't bother to wash their hands properly, or at all, when on board.

The OSPT is unfortunately always going to be a slower terminal to check in at due to the limited space in the terminal compared to Barrangaroo and I think the check in staff do a great job under the circumstances.

My wife and I are also doing the Top End cruise in February on the Radiance and Im confident most of the glitches will be sorted by then. If a bit of a delay boarding or getting on a tender is the worst thing to happen to to you then life ain't too bad.
