We are looking to book a family cruise for my parents' 70th birthdays to Alaska in summer, 2012. Grandkids range from 3-10 yrs old.

Anyone have a recommendation on who to book through for the best deal and which line is the best for kids? Wish there were kids sail free deals still!

thanks!

Welcome to CC,

If it is summer all the major lines will have enough kids that the kids club will be hopping and have suitable activities for all the kids. I'd pick the ship that matches the adults atmosphere / ports / budget. The kids will have a good time on any line!

IMHO Princess / HAL does offer the most selections; sailings, ships, and scenics to the best place Glacier Bay. Disney does sail, it more upscale, charges you a heafty penny but sadly does Tracy Arm, which while nice can't compare to Glacier bay.

As to where to book, do your research and I'd book with whom ever has the best overall total price after credits / taxes and fees.

Cruise lines I would recommend considering include Disney, Princess and Celebrity.

I would recommend sitting down with a Cruise Travel Specialist.

Disney will be pricey and is the finest for the children. Most parents and grand parents enjoy it as well.

Princess has been sailing Alaska for many years. They have one of the best children's programs and are a good choice for people of all ages.

Celebrity is a little more upscale than Princess and is just another alternative to consider.

We cruised Alaska on Princess this past summer and my 3yo and 6yo had a blast! My 6yo son begged to go to the kids club every minute it was open.

We also cruised Disney in March (Caribbean) and when I asked the kids if they preferred one over the other they said no, that Princess was just as fun as Disney.

My husband and I cruised to Alaska with our two daughters (who were 10 and 6 at the time) and his parents. We sailed on the Diamond Princess and, in our view, Princess does a great job with all ages. The kids loved the kids club and the adults were happy with everything as well.
