car rental/return help

Arriving in FLL two days before cruise. Thinking about renting car at airport. Can we return rental at port on day of cruise? How does this work? Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

 

We'd like to keep this as simple as possible as we are fam of 5. Getting everyone and luggage from one place to the next can be a hassle.

Some of the rental companies have free shuttles from their airport lots, so you could drop 4 people and bags off at the pier, and then one returns the car and takes a shuttle or taxi back. The airport is very close to the pier.

I rented from Avis, through the Costco website (the savings over other discounts for our trip was amazing). Will pick up at FLL and return to QF1 Port Everglades Shuttle for Cruise Ships, 2301 Southeast 17th St. This is a hotel location close to the Port (I don't recall the name of the hotel). The hotel drop off uses a different code (not QF1).

With Dollar Rental you can pickup the car at the airport and drop it off just outside the entrance to the pier area and they will then take you on a shuttle to the ship. Actually I dropped off the DW, a friend and luggage then went back out and dropped of the car - then took the shuttle back to the ship. Very very easy - did it last Feb with no problems.:D
