cb at sea Posted December 5, 2011 #2 Share Posted December 5, 2011 The airport is only 10 mins. away....you'll have PLENTY of time...and you don't even need to "hurry" off the ship.
FawnRiver Posted December 5, 2011 #3 Share Posted December 5, 2011 OP is docking in Miami and has to pick up a flight at FLL, so it will take more than 10 minutes, but it is still easily doable. I've never done it myself, so far we've cruised and flown out of FLL which is 10 minutes apart but others have. I'm sure you'll hear from someone who has first hand experience. LKYGSR Posted December 5, 2011 #4 Share Posted December 5, 2011 Port of Miami to FLL is a 26 mile trip north on I95. Takes more than 10 minutes, more like 45 minutes dependant on traffic, etc. If you are one of the first folks off the ship, use self assist debark, you should be good. Have a back up plan just in case you arrive port late for some reason.
okgirl Posted December 5, 2011 #5 Share Posted December 5, 2011 Even though the ship says it's docking at 8am, it's almost always there by 6:30 to 7 and disembarking passengers by 7:30. I would do self assist off the ship (you keep your bags and carry them all off by yourself). And I would book the SAS shuttle for the trip from POM to FLL (www.ridesas.com) I would book them from FLL to POM as well. I always fly in a day early and stay at the Holiday Inn POM. I love spending the afternoon and evening at the Bayside Marketplace and I always get a room that faces toward the port, so I can get see all the ships coming into port. Geebee8 Posted December 6, 2011 #8 Share Posted December 6, 2011 Not to highjack your thread but we are in a similar situation but our airline changed our flight from 3:30 departure to 11:45AM departure! We don't leave until February but starting to think what we should do. The next flight out on same airline isn't until 6:00PM with arrival back to Ohio at 10:45 with a delay in Atlanta. Hopefully we don't run into any delays but I do agree with the other posters - use SAS transport! We used them last year and they were wonderful!! vtwiggy Posted December 6, 2011 #9 Share Posted December 6, 2011 We did this a couple of years ago. I forget exactly what time our flight left out of FLL, but I think it was around one or maybe even noon. We had no problem making it. Do take SAS, they were great to us. Happy cruising!
