WannaCruiseSoon Posted December 5, 2011 #1 Share Posted December 5, 2011 Ok I have read many threads about the CAS "free" cruises and I had read where the taxes are a little more than what NCL.com shows for a cruise Is it normally alot more? This would be my first time using a free cruise certificate from a land-based casino. When I called for information on booking a cruise the prices for taxes was WAY more than I was expecting. It was more than double what ncl.com is showing for taxes on the same cruise. Just checking to see if this is what others have come across. che5904 Posted December 5, 2011 #2 Share Posted December 5, 2011 Our taxes, port and non-commissioned fees were about double for our "comped" cruises (nothing is ever free) than shown on NCL website. Still leaving a huge savings from what we would have paid if we had not had the cabin itself comped.
Fishbait17 Posted December 5, 2011 #3 Share Posted December 5, 2011 In my experience, the taxes/fees for booking CAS comps are usually at least double the taxes/fees one would normally pay as a paying guest. Several times they have been significantly more than double. Makes the certificate worth less if it is only for an inside cabin, but worth much more if it is for a balcony or above. Edited to add: just looked at some of my notes. Fees averaged from $250-300 per person for 7 day sailing. Robin
anthem Posted December 5, 2011 #4 Share Posted December 5, 2011 MY 7 day on Epic is $269.46. It was broken down $160 for NCF and $109.46 for Government Taxes/Fees. This was charged for all occupants in the room - additional pax beyond 2 pay the 3rd passenger supplement.

WannaCruiseSoon Posted December 5, 2011 Author #6 Share Posted December 5, 2011 Thanks everyone I was just making sure this was the norm What is hurting is this is only a "4-day" and the taxes are more than the room portion However NONE of the 7-days work with my schedule oh well as the saying goes "suck it up buttercup"
