Rooms to avoid

I know there is a thread about this that has an nth amount of replies, but I could have sworn I saw this link in a thread that I cannot find anymore. I was hoping to see a list of rooms to avoid on the Dream class ships because of noise above/below or location of potential nose making locals like an A/C room or attendant room across from a room.

Mostly just looking for the link to the thread/site of specific rooms to avoid.

Thanks!

If you take a look at the ship's deck plans, you can get some idea of the location of the less desirable cabins. If you're a light sleeper and susceptible to noise, avoid cabins that are near (above, below, or next to) common public areas, such as the Lido deck, lounges, casino, etc. Also, the bow of the ship. When that anchor drops, it will definitely wake you up! I've read that some people use ear plugs to help block out noise when they're sleeping. However, if you live next to railroad tracks or a freeway, and noise doesn't bother you, those less desirable cabins are sometimes lower in price, and can be a good bargain. :)

The problem is that the deck plans do not show what is below Deck 1.

There is a thread on Cabin Selection Tips board called "Don't book these rooms" and maybe that's what you were looking for?

http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=483344

I saw that, but it's pretty long and has random posts from a single room. Not enough hours in the day :)

I guess the search feature will have to work for now!

That thread is there for just that reason so we don't have multiple threads all about the same topic.. sorry if you don't have the time to read it... but creating other threads makes again more reading that some others don't have the time for either;) It is meant to be there to add to so others can view.. so hoping you can come back and add to it...;)

if you open that thread and then go to the search --type in the cruiseline and the cabin number. (coz the cabin can be the exact same thing on all sister ships.

Kind of. I was more hoping there would have been a 3rd party website where they had info. More specific than just the deck plans! Alas!

Sometimes threads need to be re-started and refreshed. I find it appealing to start over rather than scroll through pages and pages and keep trying to search for what I need. It's ten times quicker to go through a shorter thread. I always search first but sometimes you just need to start over.

you will not get noise from under the Riveria deck.

Riveria deck is a very quiet deck.

That is not true. There is a crew bar somewhere below Deck 1 which is very noisy. I do not know exactly where it is located, and Carnival won't tell anyone, and the travel agents don't know either.

Cabin U299 on ANY Fantasy-class ship should be highly avoided! The elevator motor room is directly behind this cabin and the noise/vibration is unbearable! Plus, it's probably the smallest cabin on ANY Carnival ship! Trust me on this one! Been there before!

This is a great site. If you click on Cruise 101-The Basics, then click on FYI on Cabin Selection, you will see a list of cabins on each class of ship that have reported issues. I think that's what you might be looking for.

Oops, just noticed it hasn't been updated since '09. So it wouldn't have the newer ships.

That site hasn't been updated since 2009, so it doesn't include the Magic (or other newer ships), so it's useless if you're planning to book one of those ships.

Hey Bill,,,,check out that number again. I just looked at the "Inspiration" deck plan, and there is no U299? Looks like U243 is as high as the numbers go?

Deckplangenius.com. Is a great site. Most rooms have pros/cons of their location and what is nearby

Unfortunately, that site has not been updated for the Magic. Any room I click on, for pros and cons, it just says "coming soon". It's really, really frustrating not having any info about the Magic anywhere.

I checked the Dream, and unfortunately it doesn't mention where the crew bar is, even when you click on specific rooms.

My dilemma is this: I want to book an Oceanview on the Magic. Normally, I book on the 2nd deck, usually below a dining room, which is usually quiet. But on the Magic, Deck 2 is mostly cove balconies. The only oceanviews that are currently available are either on Deck 1, or below the theater on Deck 2, or very far aft (the weird shaped rooms) on Deck 2. I would be willing to book Deck 1, but I know that there is a crew bar directly below Deck 1, which I want to avoid, since other reviews have said it is very noisy, all night. But unfortunately, nobody is able to tell me where the crew bar is, so I don't know which parts of Deck 1 to avoid.
