Northern Europe and Balticswith kids

If you do a search on this board under "Baltic", you'll find a number of families who have had a great time there with details of what they did, etc. I had actually booked a Baltic cruise for next summer because of all the great reviews of it I read for families, but ended up cancelling because the airfare is insane. But it seemed like there was something great to do in each port for kids and the sights are close to the ports for the most part (unlike the Med). Private tours are the way to go for families - you can find recommendations on the ports of call board.

Best,

Mia

Our daughter had just turned 6 when we went on a Baltic cruise - it was our first time in Europe with the kids and it was a great experience. We spent a few days in Copenhagen first which we found to be very family-friendly. Our ports were Stockholm, Helsinki, St. Petersburg, Tallinn, Gdansk and Oslo. We did a 2 day private tour in St. Petersburg which worked extremely well - it's nice with young kids to have a private car transporting just your family. In Gdansk we took a ship's tour because I was worried about the distance from the port and traffic - not such a good day. In the other four ports we walked off the ship and saw the cities on our own - all are very easy to get around in on your own. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend the Baltics to families with young kids.
