The Big Booper Posted December 30, 2011 #26 Share Posted December 30, 2011 A non story. We saw no evidence of heavy duty security during the cruise. Lots of Russians aboard but they were Brighton Beach types, not KGB types.:D
billie5 Posted December 30, 2011 #27 Share Posted December 30, 2011 Hey, don't you know, the really good KGB types look like they come from Brighton Beach.:p
JLC@SD Posted December 30, 2011 #28 Share Posted December 30, 2011 While enjoying our last cappuccino :( in Cafe al Bacio 9:00 am Monday morning before disembarkation from the Silhouette, we saw a SWAT team walk by us! ....they would have been Secret Service .....not SWAT....;)
sqdwrd1 Posted December 30, 2011 #29 Share Posted December 30, 2011 I was on that cruise, no Joe BIden. Heightened security due to bomb threat.
boatboat Posted December 30, 2011 #30 Share Posted December 30, 2011 I was on that cruise and the 2 before. All the delays were extreme cleaning. All back to back passengers had to leave the ship and were given free excursions. When we returned to the ship, we were escorted in a special group past the thousands waiting in line. I was lucky number six back on the ship. This was the most thorough cleaning of all. The books were removed from the library and the info notebooks in the cabins were gone. Bridge Maven Posted December 30, 2011 #32 Share Posted December 30, 2011 Given the amount of security that would be needed, I doubt that any Vice President of the United States would ever sail on a mass market cruise line, unless they chartered the entire ship for themselves. antsnanny Posted December 30, 2011 #33 Share Posted December 30, 2011 We ended our cruise on the Silhouette on Dec 12 and we saw 8 State Police cars (NJ) and one SWAT team. We also saw the State Police onboard the ship, walking around as if they were on a tour. Anyone on that cruise know why there were so many cops around? Richard&JohnSTX Posted December 31, 2011 #35 Share Posted December 31, 2011 Joe and and his wife are on St Croix now - arrived on Air Force Two Tuesday and are leaving on the 4th of Jan so doubt they were cruising on the Silhouette just prior! Speaking of the Silhoette we were on her for the Oct 8th Holy Land cruise and continued on the TA from Rome to Bayonne. Can not say anything but kind words for all the staff we encountered - everyone was chipper and going out of their way to please - we are so lucky to have been able to spend 23 days on this ship with this great crew - we booked 27 nights b2b for next year on the Reflection Nov 4th from Venice to Barcelona then continuing TA to Miami! Can't wait! Richard
