Epic Midship Balcony vs. Large Balcony

I am considering switching our balcony from midship deck 8 to a Large Balcony on 10, 11 or 12 floor.

 

Is the balcony significantly larger than a regular balcony? Any reason why I should take one and not the other?

We got off the Epic on Saturday and had a b6 Balcony on Deck 9. We were considered AFT but a few rooms over was middle. The Balcony was big and we asked for a lounge chair and there was more then enough room. Deck 8 the life boats are right under the balcony so being higher up would be better. :)

Thanks. I end up taking the long balcony 11246. I think that is one of the balcony. Hopefully it should be good.

That room has a massive balcony. You should love it. Even better that it's not on deck 8. A lot of the mid-ship balconies on deck 8 are uncovered

Great. I meant to say larger balcony. Only thing anything I wish is that the bed is away from the door. But guess I can't have everything. I will settle with it.

I'm just off the Epic last week and had the big B6 balcony, 11245. The balcony is huge had the bed away from the bathroom. I'd definitely book that cabin again.

That's great to hear. I think 11246 and 11245 are identicle in size, just different side.

 

After I paid for my upgrade yesterday...I found out there's a hugh price drop today! Hopefully I can score some obc.

I'm so glad to read this. We switched from 13278 (aft balc) to 10253 (B6) d/t price & I've been hoping I'd not kick myself for the switch.

After I saw the price drop, ncl offered to upgrade me to aft. But I look around all the available ones, none of the has a big balcony. And I actually think it's more of a downgrade.

Recently off the Epic....we had a B4 (? i think) cabin....almost center of the ship on deck 13....wasn't sure if we would like being that far from either elevator, but, turns out...it was perfect! Because sometimes you would want to go forward (buffet, theatre) and sometimes aft (casino, dinner) so, it all worked out....our cabin was the beginning of the bump out, so we had an angled large balcony....I thought about asking for a lounge....guess I should have...

 

Also, in hindsight, I think I would have liked having the bed away from the door (ours was near the door)....when we booked, I was thinking that having the sofa near the balcony would give us a nice 'living' area....(like the mini-suites on the Jewel)...turns out, the sofa is pretty much useless, not comfortable to sit on and not in a good place to watch tv...if it were near the bathroom, it would make a nicer 'dressing area'....Live and Learn....

Hi welcome back. I have booked which sounds like the same cabin as you, front of the angle bump out deck 13 but bed is beside balcony. Do you happen to have a picture of the balcony?

Believe it or not...this is the first time that I did NOT take a photo of the cabin (I usually do, as soon as we walk in, before we mess it up..lol)...but the balcony was really good sized...could have easily had 3 chairs or a lounger and a chair and still plenty of room....

 

We were in cabin 13130....my only complaint about this balcony, if you stand at the edge, you can look into (almost) everyone's balcony forward of you, and you can't see anything aft of you....

 

If I could have a 'do over' for this cruise....I think I would just choose a regular balcony mid ship....or one of the B6 (large balcony) in the front of the ship (those balconies must be really big)...

Just beware that most of those forward "large" balconies are of the hulled variety.

For those of you that have been in the B6 large balconies - is it very private? Because you're at an angle, I assume you can see down into everyone's balconies along your deck and they can also see you. Just wondering if the larger balcony is worth it if you don't have privacy.

 

DH really wants to switch to an aft -facing balcony because of this, but I've heard that the aft has a lot of vibration in the am when pulling into port. We've cruised on the aft on other cruiselines and while there was vibration, it wasn't that bad and most people rave about the aft balconies! There are still plenty available on my next cruise.
