robigs Posted December 19, 2011 #1 Share Posted December 19, 2011 Does anyone have any advice for me re fishing in Costa Maya? Especially shallow-water, maybe just from the beach. Thanks, in advance.
Rare crewsweeper Posted December 19, 2011 #2 Share Posted December 19, 2011 I know there are deep sea fishing boats leaving out of the main pier in Mahahual. I believe Steve at Tropicante can arrange a guide for you, he's done that for flyfishermen in the past. I would suspect you'd have to travel away from the malecon to get any serious fishing even from the beach. But contact Steve at Tropicante and see what he says. steveuhl@sandalsandskis.com
beachseeker Posted December 20, 2011 #3 Share Posted December 20, 2011 We are wade fishing in Costa Maya next week with Western Caribbean Fly Fishing school. Sounds like it is what you are looking for. Google "western Caribbean fly fishing" and you will find the website. The reviews look good.

Whumcruise Posted December 21, 2011 #5 Share Posted December 21, 2011 In Costa Maya I would definitely go deep sea fishing, they are close to Excalak (sorry if I misspelled) which was nominated as one of the best fishing areas in the world. http://www.costamayaexcursions.biz/excursions/privatesportdeepseafishing.html
