"LIVE" from the Mariner o4-10-05

OrangeinIndy and cruizeblues - great to see some other 'Cuse fans out there. Yeah - the tournament - that Syracuse/UVM match up was the last thing we wanted to see happen on selection Sunday - and the game was just a disaster! Oh well, there's always next season! We've actually kind of adopted the Central New York/Southern Tier since our son is now the basketball graduate assistant at Elmira College, and our daughter has one more undergraduate year at SU - we know I-90 quite well!

Radio - your live updates and pictures are fantastic - can't wait until Sunday!

Radio - are you the same Radio that was on Explorer with us in October 01?

If so, hello again, and thanks for the pictures of Mariner. We're sailing her on May 22 - Western Caribbean. We were onboard for the first Mariner cruise in November of 03 (we were actually onboard one week before what had been planned as the inaugural), and we're looking forward to sailing her again. Sure hope our weather is as good as yours has been.

Negc says hello!

Hi there Radio - There might be better cameras out there, but if you saw what I get from my old Kodak (which was pretty cool at the time I bought it) you would know that these pictures are a great step up. I've been looking for a little while for a new one - and I hardly ever get to have a "test drive" like your thread. Thanks for the info.

Hope you have a great day today. So far your cruise sounds like a terrific vacation.....now I want to do the Western route. (We are booked for Eastern in September.) Your travelogue is very convincing!

Good Morning Jamaica ! It looks like it should be a beautiful day. The sun will be out, and a warm 88f, with no rain in sight.

I will be heading out to Island Village , for Margaritaville is calling my name ! I also want to get some Jamaican Blue Mountain Coffee. There are a couple of beaches close by...The one at Margaritaville, and Mallard Beach.

I also heard there was a Casino nearby....so I might need to go in there !

Here are a few shots of us pulling in to Ocho Rios...

Radio - my heart is stuck in my throat, at what joy those pictures of Jamaica brings me! We were just in Montego Bay in October...and the anticipation of going back...well...makes me cry.

Thank you so much for the photos! They are truly making a huge impact on my day. You don't even know how happy you make me!

Can you tell me - you are on Deck 7, right? We're in Room #7570. Is that the same side / setup as what you are in now? (Sorry, first time cruiser here!)

Radio, thanks SO MUCH for the lunchtime diversion! It's makes the wait for the next 5 weeks a little more bearable! :)

I know some ports have more than one terminal to stop at. Can you let us know which one you dock at in Jamaica, Grand Cayman and Cozumel?

Keep the pics coming, they are WONDERFUL!

Coming on and reading this thread and seeing your pictures are making my day at the moment!

I travalled on the Mariner last year for my first ever cruise and loved her to bits! I made some great friends, enjoyed the food and went on some great excursions!!

Seeing these pictures and reading your thread brings back the memories and makes me look even more forward (if thats possible!) to getting back on the Mariner in October!!

Hello Radio,

How wonderful of you to post live reviews. They are truly so helpful. My DH and I were on the Mariner (Western) in October 2004. We love that ship.

Have a great vacation and thank you once again

billsgal.....That was me on your Explorer Cruise ! Glad to hear from you again!!

Hello everone...This is part 4 of my "Live" from the Mariner reports. Today of coarse was Ocho Rios, Jamaica, and I can't beleive how the weather is holding up. Another warm day, a little overcast...but a spectacular day.

I got off of the ship at around 11am, and went directly to Island Village. The casino that used to be there was gone. Someone said that it move down the street, near Soni Plaza, but I decided not to go.

There are about 35 vendors inside Island Village, including the Famous Margaritaville. Thats really what generates Island Village. It was a huge party there ! With prizes, fun, contests...It was kind of like Carlos and Charlies (But not as wild)

To access the beach there, you pay $3. If you want a chair for the day, just add $2. It was very relaxing. Margaritaville personnel come by to see if you need some food or drink. The vendors there can only walk along the water there. They are not allowed to come on to the beach to heckle passengers. There are security guards every 200 ft or so to make sure that doesn't happen.

Well I just decided to hang out there all day (I have been to Jamaica many times and didn't feel like an excursion). At about 3pm I decided to head back after doing some browsing. I then took a long nap ! (Vacations tend to wear a guy down)

We left at 5pm and we are sailing away to Georgetown, Grand Cayman...about 260nm. Tonight is the Crown and Anchor Party, The Ice Show, and the Love and Marriage show....plus dinner.

The free Movies today are "Sideways" and "Before Sunset" There were 2 showings of the movie "The Notebook" in the Screening Room on deck2.

Tonight is also the Summer Breeze Beach Party on the pool deck at 11pm-12:30am

Here's a few pics from today.... (I can only post 4 at a time, so I will post twice) My pics have to be temporarily store on www.shutterfly.com Club Photo is still giving me trouble.
