Hi Jan,

Glad to hear you had a good time. First balcony, wow. Joe and I will be getting our first balcony on the Epic in a few weeks.

Are you going in Dec again next time around?

hey Deb...wow you have two in January, will be waiting to hear how you liked the Epic..i am not ready for the EPIC-size cruising yet, but wont say ever.....lol...

we didnt have many sea days to enjoy really the balcony...it was COOL tho to wake up and walk outside...HOPE you have a FANTASTIC time!

we are going at the end of Nov for our 10 day and the first week in December for the 11 day.

i am looking at the cruises for the end of the year in 2013 and cant find any B2B (which we LOVE)!!

I'll be sure to let you know how the Epic goes. I'm not sure I'm ready for traveling with 4000 others, however ready or not....:D

Yea, 2 cruises, the short cruise is with the kids and grandkids. Yea know, we'll have only one "30th" anniversary.

Did you host the Meet and Greet for both of your cruises? How did they go?

if you have any questions i would be happy to answer or try...otherwise you will be aboard her before you know it:)

Oh I have lots of questions :)

How were the shows? Is Bong still mixing drinks in the Tapas place? What was your favorite thing about your cruise?

Are you sorry you asked? :D

i did do both the M&Gs and for our Roll Calls we had GOOD turn-outs...NCL treated us well as usual--NICE to have them both in the Observation Lounge instead of the rooms in the library!!

we didnt attend alot of them...the juggler was GOOD...we had the one that was on America's Got Talent so he was on for one "special" performance....we had seen all the shows last year--altho we went to WE WILL ROCK YOU and some of the songs had changed.

ELVY ROSE was OUTSTANDING!!!

BONG is so COOL and was in the Sports Bar!--always knew what i was drinking and always SAVED us pop-corn (hubby LOVES)!!

my fav thing about the cruise was being on the cruise and just kicking back and relaxing and doing nothing or everything and running into OLD FRENS....DJ FRANCO (from last year) and MARIA (Cruise Staff- from the STAR (February)

our room steward HERBERT (deck 10 was OUTSTANDING) the BEST out of 9 cruises!!

have to say that CANDI from South Africa (CD) did a GREAT job with the cruise--she is ALOT of FUN and VERY LIKEABLE!!

AHHHHHHHHH!!! Reading this made me even more excited to go on my first cruise for my 30th birthday. We board the Sun on the 7th, and I cannot wait!!

I think you said you've done several cruises on the Sun. Have you ever been down on Deck 4? We have an outside view room on the 4th. I believe it's by the stairs, underneath the coffee station... I'm hoping it's a nice room...not that we'll be in it for much more than to sleep. :)

Do you enjoy Sushi? I was thinking of trying their restaurant, but not sure if it'll be good quality.

Thanks again for getting me excited! I keep reading review, and some of them are just so stinky! BUT I know this is mostly how YOU make your vacation. And we are going to make it AWESOME!

The sushi I had on the Jewel was excellent! I was the only customer one day at lunch. I heard that NCL charges ala carte now for sushi :( I was on Carnival in March and the sushi was free, although a limited choice and supply. When I sailed Celebrity they had free sushi every day and it was a little like a select group of us that met there daily. That was really cool. But I understand NCL has a different model for restaurants and that's ok with me really. If I want it, I will buy it.

The Sun is very special. I hope you love your cruise.

Okay, STARFISH! You said if anyone had questions...I haven't been on an NCL ship in almost 30 years - yes, I did say 30 years. We cruise mostly Carnival with some Princess and RCCL occasionally thrown in. Can you give me a general rundown on things? How is the food in the MDR? What's the casino like? Specifically, how do the blackjack tables work? Automatic shufflers or dealer shuffles the cards? Minimums? How crowded? Animated slots? Any "secrets" you can share about the ship in general? What should I mostly be looking forward to? Any help would be appreciated. I'll check out some reviews, too, but since you just got back...:) Thanks in advance!

on the SUN i have only stayed on deck 8 and 10...just personal preference for cruising i dont go lower than deck 5 or higher than 10.

there are alot of us repeat SUN cruisers who have had GREAT times!!!!

a cruise like other vacations is how you make you and YOU have the RIGHT attitude to start out with!!

ENJOY ENJOY!!! and HAPPY BIRTHDAY:)

sorry i dont do SUSHI....and never pay extra for GOOD food as never needed to...we never go hungry on NCL.......

altho we did use our FREE dinners (Platinum) in LeBistro and that was pretty good!!

like i posted before we never pay extra for food on NCL and always find plenty to eat in the MDR and buffet and on the SUN (Sports Bar-serves Blue Lagoon type foods)

cant help with the casino, atho i did notice whenever we went thru that it didnt seem very busy.

GOOD place for breakfast and lunch is the Great Outdoors and remember you can take your food anywhere...many times we were eating in the Sports Bar during the day food we got from the buffet.

you mostly should be looking forward to having a GOOD time...the crew are WONDERFUL and so many of them VERY PERSONABLE and if you need something just ask ...they always TRY to accomondate you.

remember if you have a problem.....get help with it onboard...try to get it resolved RIGHT AWAY, dont wait to come home to complain about it on CC and join your Roll Call if you havent already and attend the Meet & Greet for your sailing.

Hi Starfish...saw your post on our roll call January 14, 2012...thanks for that. Just thought there may be more info if I follow this thread. :D

We are on deck 10...room 0227. Where were you? We'll look out for Herbert.

Are the menues the same in both MDR's? Did you like one over the other?

Thanks for the info...we are down to 17 days now :p

0053-aft....was a GREAT locale right near the stairs and elevator up to the pool deck/buffet/Great Outdoors and the Sports Bar

the menus only differ in the everyday selections (ones that stay the same) i.e. one has grilled chicken breast the other roasted chicken-different type of steak...we mostly ate in the Four Seasons as we could always be seated right away there.

both MDR menus were always posted right outside the Four Seasons

wont be long for you now...TIME goes by so fast....

have a FANTASTIC time!!

i have 11 months to wait to see the SUN again:(

we were on a tour after the cruise...they were running behind...disembarktion was a bit chaotic--so was last years--amazes me how people just cant stay and wait their turn in line.

we always get a porter which speeds things up once we get to where our luggage is.
