cruisinforfun9 Posted December 30, 2011 #1 Share Posted December 30, 2011 Hi - The family and I are headed on the Allure of the Seas in April for Spring Break and though I am a long time cruiser and have been on a few RCI cruises, I have a question that I can't find the answer too! I have a 10 yo and 8 yo and know that in the past the kids program was closed from 12-2 and 5-7 - for parents to take the kids to eat, etc. I see that they have a new dinner program where for first sitting the kids eat within the first 40 minutes and then are picked up by an Adventures staff member for the evening activities, I think that's very cool. However, I cannot find anywhere on the Royal Caribbean website if they still close the adventures program from 12-2 and 5-7, I see that on other websites and have seen it on the royal caribbean site before but can't find it now and am wondering if they've changed something. We are debating on changing from first dinner seating to my time dinner but would like to know the details on the kids program before making that call. We are traveling with my sister and her 3 yo, 2 yo and 6 month old so she's the one that wants to make the change :) TIA! A
cb at sea Posted December 30, 2011 #2 Share Posted December 30, 2011 1st (main) seating is what the kid's club activities are scheduled around....I'd keep that! There is a program during 1st seating where the kids get served faster, and they will be picked up by AO staff and parents can linger over the rest of dinner. If you do MTD, you'll have to schedule your meals around the kid's activities.
born2travel Posted January 25, 2012 #3 Share Posted January 25, 2012 Hi...looking forward to cruising with my grandsons, 7 & 8 (and their parents, of course!) so I am fascinated with everything related to RCI's Adventure Ocean. Wondering how it all works, and you have just answered my meal-time question. Thanks!
14ersco Posted January 27, 2012 #4 Share Posted January 27, 2012 Last summer on the Serenade we had MTD. The first night we arrived just after 6 and were immediately escorted to a table. The next afternoon we had a phone message from the dining room if we would like to continue eating at about the same time, with the same table and wait staff. We called back and said yes. So for the rest of the cruise we could show up at any time between 6 and 6:30 and our table and wait staff was ready. The MTD was on the second floor and the early seating was on the first floor. The Adventure Ocean staff would arrive outside the entrance of the first floor dining room at about 6:40/45. Both our child and the child of the family who had the table next to us would be served their meals quickly so that the usually were finished by the time the Adventure Ocean staff arrived. The MTD children would just walk downstairs to join the counselors. Now if the child was not finished eating by the time the counselors left one of the parents would take their child up to Adventure Ocean. Our wait staff would hold off on dessert until the spouse returned. So MTD worked good with Adventure Ocean and we had some flexibility on our arrival time at the dining room. bmccarthy Posted February 7, 2012 #5 Share Posted February 7, 2012 We did My Family Time Dining on the Mariner last week. 2 nights they fed them dinner in the Windjammer, but you have to sign up that day by 5pm. The only time they charge for lunch is sea days and that was $7.95. We only took advantage of it for port days. They took her to the Windjammer for lunch. natdalton Posted March 2, 2012 #6 Share Posted March 2, 2012 Kids programs questions: Does it cost anything? One place it says INCLUDED, but then somewhere else i think it gives a price for it. Is the 7.95 for lunch on Sea days? Anyone know what kind of stuff they do in the class for a 9 year old? What times does it run?

I have the schedules here http://s204.photobucket.com/albums/bb196/cruisinmama06/ And the charges for lunch is only if you use that service. The other charge is for babysitting after 10pm. natdalton Posted March 4, 2012 #8 Share Posted March 4, 2012 Oh thank you, thats a great resource! How much is the babysitting after 10pm?
crusinmama06 Posted March 4, 2012 #9 Share Posted March 4, 2012 Oh thank you, thats a great resource! How much is the babysitting after 10pm? My mind is drawing a blank if it's $5/hour per child or if it's $6/hour per child. I always mix that up ;) Maybe someone else who has a clearer memory can confirm. :) and that's just for the late night party zone. And you don't have to do anything to enroll them. If you don't show up at 10pm to get the kids, then it simply rolls over to the paid service and they will ask for your sea pass to charge it when you arrive.
