fue-fue Posted January 2, 2012 #1 Share Posted January 2, 2012 We are booked on the last leg of oriana's world cruise from San Francisco to Southampton. 19th March 2012 We couldn't find any excursions for Acapulco. Has that port been cancelled? thanks
BrianI Posted January 2, 2012 #2 Share Posted January 2, 2012 P&O have cancelled calls to Acapulco, along with other major cruiselines, due to the escalating crime and drug wars Brian
Denarius Posted January 4, 2012 #3 Share Posted January 4, 2012 You are not missing much. Went a year ago on Oceana and was greatly dissappointed. I expected Cannes and got Benidorm.

Denarius Posted January 7, 2012 #5 Share Posted January 7, 2012 Thanks for both the above posts. We've now had an e-mail from our agent confirming the cancellation. we are now going to Zihuatanejo. Anyone been? Lovely little port. Will have to tender, but once you are ashore everything is within easy walking distance. Nice beach area right next to the jetty. Useless fact: Zihuatanejo is where Andy and Red meet up after release in (Rita Haworth and) The Shawshank Redemption
cruisebore Posted January 7, 2012 #6 Share Posted January 7, 2012 Went there on our Panama transit. loved it. A pleasant large village, not at all down at heel like Acapulco. Went to Playa Ropa beach, a few dollars in a taxi. free sunbeds in front of the bars if you are buying a beer or two. We had a nice inexpensive lunch. If memory serves me there is another beach reached by boat from the pier. Regards CB
