Taxi Pickup at Beaches?

We have been to St. Thomas 4 times, and we really enjoy Magens Bay. Up until now, we have always purchased the excursion through the ship, but are thinking of having a taxi drop us at the beach. My question is "how easy is it to get a taxi to return you to the ship or downtown Charlotte Amalie? Do you have to set it up ahead of time, or are there taxis sitting there waiting to be hired for the return? Unfortunately, we have never paid much attention before, due to being on the excursions. We are going to be on the Ruby Princess in March. Thanks,

Expect to pay about $10 per person, each way. If there's more than two or three of you, rent a Jeep instead. And yes, there will be a line of taxis waiting for whoever needs a ride.

Sapphire Beach is near a resort/hotel and there were plenty of taxis waiting for us to take us back.
