NOLA: Getting to the pier from the quarter?

What's the best way to get to the Port of New Orleans from the French Quarter?

 

I know I can catch a shuttle from the airport to the hotel, is there any shuttle to the pier?

 

Should I just expect to hail a cab on Sunday morning? Any estimate on the fare?

If your hotel is near the river, you could take the riverfront streetcar. Otherwise, you'll probably need a cab. It's just a little too far to walk. About 10 blocks or so. The chain hotels might have airport shuttles but I doubt if they will take you to the seaport for free.

Recent stay at Hilton-Riverside, cab fare was $7pp to the pier. Not bad considering they drop you off right in front of terminal.

Your best bet would be a cab. Standard rate from anywhere in the Quarter or Garden District to the pier is $7pp.

We stayed at the Hilton Riverside last year and took the streetcar/trolley. It was great - cost $1.50 and stopped right at the pier.
