Here are a few pix, another 800 to wade thru.......LOL

Great Pics!

When were the deck pics taken?

No one is there? Was it too cold or was it during

port stop?

Also, did Dru happen to mention when he leaves for vacation?

Thanks,

Liz

Restaurants:

We mostly dined at the Manhattan, we had "main seating" which is 6 pm on formal nights and 6:15 on informal and casual nights, this way we could attend shows etc after dinner. There were a few night we opted to eat by the pool (killer hambugers!) and sometimes we did the Palm Springs grill. All the food we saw/ate/viewed etc was excellent, fresh and well presented. Lobster is last formal night and yummy:D They serve Sushi every night in the alternative dining room as well as a regular menu. A 2 dollar per person gratuity is expected for these last 2 mentioned.

Pizza and Pasta:

by the covered pool there is a station that serves pizza and build your own pasta for both lunch and dinner. The same location is a waffle bar for breakfast. There is no charge for this locations food.

Hamburgers and hot dogs:

Directly adjacent to the main pool is a station that serves hamburgers and hot dogs and some sandwiches at lunch and dinner, no charge.

What do you mean a 2 dollar tip is expected for these last two? Are you tipping for burgers by the pool now?

No, the burgers are free it's the "Alternative Dining, sushi etc that they reccomend the tip for.

The deck pix were at all hours, the weather was great 95% of the time but it is ALWAYS windy on deck 12. Hot in Mexico but not ugly-hot. Nights get nippy on the deck so take a light jacket.

Ports:

Catalina secret: If you need to purchase something you forgot at home, need soda, suntan lotion, baby food, whatever...............on Catalina Island near the Casino, if you look up the side streets, there a few steps away from the main drag, is a Vons supermarket! You can just pop in and get all the conforts of home goodies!

Puerto Vallarta: take the "Yellow Taxi" to get around, much cheaper than the hawkers that meet you at the port! For the bargain shoppers, grab a cab and head to the "Malecon" or "Sea Wall" have them let you off at "Hooters" (cost $5 for the 2 of us by cab). Cross the street and go up 2 blocks to the "Mercato Viejo" or "Old Market" which is a huge indoor/outdoor market frequented by the locals and the prices are 1/3 of what they charge at most places in town. Also in PV are the "Aqua Termales" or "Thermal Pools" natural hot water spring, very cool.

For what it's worth, you can also check the review I posted on the Roll Call, Mercury March 30th, board. Might find some more info. that will be helpful for you. If I knew how to move it over here, I would. "

Computer challenged."

Great review Elena. Forgot to thank you for printing the name tags.

Happy sailing,

Joanne, the chocoholic

Cher Amie: Enjoyed your cruise review and the pictures. Also your Catalina market tip. So much that I copied it and pasted it into a comment on the Veendam Coastal thread on the HAL board. Veendam's first port out of San Diego en route to Vancouver is all the way up to Catalina!

Look forward to seeing you at a future San Diego Cruisers event.

Hi All!

Eandee, the braids were done in Mazatlan, on the beach after we rode horses with "Randi's Happy Horses" Most wanted $30, but I got it done for 15. I speak fluent Spanish so I bargain hard!

Bengoshi, hope to hear soon of the next San Diego Cruiser lunch!

Sable1, Hi:D I want to read your review, I'll go find it now, did you see your picture?

bbmdschmidt, just below my name the is a link that is underlined, click on it and it will take you to the pictures.

Where did the little girl get the hair braids from?

Eandee,

Who is doing your hair for the wedding? If you plan to have it done on board at the Spa, ask for Carmen she is awesome! She did my hair a couple of times and it was amazing, she created a whole new style for me.:D Where on the ship are you getting married, what lounge? BTW unless someone else is getting married there too, you will win the contest for newliest married! I think they give you a bottle of bubbly, presented by Dru. At least that's what happened when we went to the event. The invite was sent by the ship just for those celebrating a wedding anny. I saw one couple getting married on our cruise too! They were SO cute! I think he was 79 and she was 75!

Tried to log onto the shopping site you gave me, but it was for something totally different. Help, can you e-mail me more info. when you get the chance. No hurry because I'm going to be busy the next week studying for a test I have to take for work.

Happy sailing,

Joanne

I have an appointment at 8:30 AM the morning of the Wedding (which is at 11AM in the Navigator) and I will ask for Carmen when I board. I can try and see if the wedding coordinator can ask for her special. We can test out some ideas on the day before too because it is formal night after Monterey.

It probably depends if she is still there on May 6th.

I have really thinning hair on top with major scalp showing through almost like a chemo patient. I am bringing some hair pieces but don't know if it will help any unless she is a miracle worker! It's hereditary in my case and at 51 I am glad to have any hair left at all! It is to my shoulders.

I asked about the braiding because if you look at my wedding album I was hoping she could do something similar but instead of brading they twist strands and then bring like three sets of strands into one flower.

I will try to post attachemnts, no GTY!

Liz
