MontrealerEB Posted January 8, 2012 #1 Share Posted January 8, 2012 Hi, we are looking about the 2013 January 5th cruise in south america. January the 8th it's written "Imbituba - no debark" what no debark means and what is the difference between "no debark" or "at sea" ? And what is the actual interest ? coyboy1971 Posted January 9, 2012 #2 Share Posted January 9, 2012 We have a similar listing on our Feb 6 itinerary - no debark on 2/10 at Imbituba. From what I gather, it's like a "sea day" where the ship is waiting to be cleared by authorities as it transits between Brazil waters and Uraguay waters. cindilouwho Posted January 9, 2012 #4 Share Posted January 9, 2012 This day is a sea day - it's a little confusing but at sometime during the cruise day or night - the ship will either tender or stop in some port close to the border - the authorities arrive onboard and clear the ship out of Brazil. On our sailing they actually stopped in a commercial port and stayed there a few hours ...we were having the Wine Pairing Dinner that evening and watched as they came alongside.... Otherwise they sometimes do it in the middle of the night .... all depends on the mood of the Brazilian authorities. The sea day on our cruise was very relaxing - the weather was a bit cool but I sat in the sun anyway and got a beautiful tan!!! :D Seems so long ago.... :(
jcrandle Posted January 11, 2012 #5 Share Posted January 11, 2012 No Debark means that you will not be permitted legally to leave the ship. However, you could fling yourself over the rail, and try to swim to shore. However, in addition to violating Brazilian customs and immigration laws, you could be convicted of throwing something off the ship!:D
ellbon Posted January 12, 2012 #6 Share Posted January 12, 2012 took about 4 hours - sometimes it is later than dinner time and yuo could be sleeping.
