There has been no officail news as of late. It has been moved into Dry Dock 3 in Bremerhaven, but it is unclear as to the meaning of that. I have dropped an e-mail to Raoul Fienberg at Das Ruderhaus to see if he has any information, so hopefully we will hear something soon.

I've been checking the german google site and I haven't read a blessed thing that would give any indication that any progress is being made at all.

There was a really good thread going at Pride of America - Updates (salvage, etc.), but for some reason I'm now locked out of it. Possibly it's been lost in the board rebuilds?

Anyway, I did come across this article dated 30 April 2004 (which has PR written all over it):-
quote:
NCL doing well without Pride of America
Howard Dicus

Norwegian Cruise Line says its ramp-up of Hawaiian cruises, set to start July 4, is "fully booked" for months beyond, even though the Pride of America won't be part of the service for as long as a year.

...

The renovated Pride of Aloha, with "Hawaiianized" furnishings put in and a casino taken out, will enter service in place of the Pride of America, which remains at the Lloyd Werfft shipyard in Bremerhaven, Germany, undergoing repairs to seawater damage when the vessel sank at the dock in a gale. The lower three decks were submerged for weeks.

"The repairs are progressing," Kritzman said. "The shipyard is working with us. It just takes time because a lot of the equipment on a cruise ship isn't the kind of stuff you can just take off the shelf. Fabricating the equipment takes time." Kritzman said it now looks like the Pride of America won't be ready until spring "or summer" of next year.
