dlsteve67 Posted January 12, 2012 #1 Share Posted January 12, 2012 My family and grandparents (twin girls just shy of their 2nd birthday) are going on our first cruise. We are planning to each bring a bottle of wine or rum to have in the rooms but I still wondering what are some of the unexpected charges we will probably encounter on the trip. We don't plan to use babysitting or buy drinks onboard. We have all the girls diapers, swim diapers, wipes, etc. Thanks, Steve
ducklite Posted January 12, 2012 #2 Share Posted January 12, 2012 First, you might know it, but in case you don't, the kids can't go in the pools even in swim diapers. If you are on the Dream there is a splash zone that kids in swim diapers can use. You'll need to plan for tips (minimum $12 per day per person, including the kids!) You'll also need to tip the porters at the Port, $2 per bag, $1 for smaller bags, $5 for larger or oversized/weight bags Room service tips, $2 for a snack or morning coffee, $5 for a full meal Other things you might need or want to spend money on: Family photos Laundry service Specialty coffees Shore excursions or cabs to beaches (plus tips to drivers) Specialty dining Souvenirs
Sunkissed Mommy Posted January 12, 2012 #3 Share Posted January 12, 2012 The tips for dining/stewards are $12 pp/per day. The previous poster placed their suggestions for the additional tips. I think some of those a a bit high! It's up to your discretion for the porters, room service, etc.
