superjerryw Posted April 14, 2005 #3 Share Posted April 14, 2005 They used to, but not anymore. I keep lobbying to have it brought back using chair hogs instead of clay birds. Did I hear someon say PUULLLLLLLL.....
FreesiaE Posted April 14, 2005 #4 Share Posted April 14, 2005 I'm quick on the trigger, with targets not much bigger than a pinpoint I'm number one; but my score with a feller, is lower than a cellar, no you can't get a man with a gun.
Druke I Posted April 14, 2005 #5 Share Posted April 14, 2005 I don't think skeet has been offered since about the time of the Achille Lauro affair, way back when . . . .
kitty9 Posted April 14, 2005 #6 Share Posted April 14, 2005 Environmentalists stopped the skeet shoot because the clay was polluting the water and hurting the fish. It's the same reason why you can't shoot golf balls off the back of the ship anymore.

FreesiaE Posted April 14, 2005 #8 Share Posted April 14, 2005 I was wondering how long it would take for someone to pick up on that line! Very impressive!
raudacruise Posted April 14, 2005 #9 Share Posted April 14, 2005 I think it was the lead in the shot more than the clay that caused them to abandon things. Steel shot is now normally used but I don't think too many folks brandishing shotguns on board. Only time we saw skeet and golfing was on a cruise to nowhere on Sea Escape back in 1986 or so. FreesiaE Posted April 14, 2005 #10 Share Posted April 14, 2005 My family and I took one of those 5-6 hour cruises from Miami to the Bahamas for my HS graduation in 1997. They did indeed have skeet shooting.

Thats how I got it. Dont know about the first person to make the connection . From the 1946 play, music by Irving Berlin From "Anything you can do i can do better": FRANK: I can shoot a partridge with a single cartridge ANNIE: I can get a sparrow with a bow and arrow FRANK: I can live on bread and cheese ANNIE: And only on that? FRANK: Yes ANNIE: So can a rat
