jayfer Posted January 23, 2012 #1 Share Posted January 23, 2012 What is a good beach to go to in G C that is not crowded but is safe. How do you get there ? By taxi or is it in walking distance?

BoooBooKitEFk Posted January 23, 2012 #3 Share Posted January 23, 2012 Seven-mile beach on Grand CaymAn. Have a great trip!
beachbum6264 Posted January 23, 2012 #4 Share Posted January 23, 2012 Crowded or not too crowded depends on time of day and number of ships in port that day. I've been to 7 mile beach when it was almost empty and I've been when you couldn't get into the water for all the people. Early in the day is the best time, swim early, shop later. cruisin1982 Posted January 23, 2012 #5 Share Posted January 23, 2012 Grape Beach very nice beach we took a cab there no problem. We rented a locker and stayed there a few hours and took a cab back and did some shopping.
must2cruz Posted January 23, 2012 #6 Share Posted January 23, 2012 We went to 7 mile beach on two cruises. Very easy to get to/from via taxi.
TKDgirl2456 Posted January 23, 2012 #7 Share Posted January 23, 2012 on my last cruise, my boyfriend & I caught a cab in grand cayman for $6 pp to the Royal Palms Beach; it was $2 to get in, but free beach chairs & free wi-fi, as well as a pool. It wasn't that crowded either.
LamenLaur Posted January 23, 2012 #8 Share Posted January 23, 2012 The side of the island with 7 Mile Beach can be extremely crowded. If you take a trip to the other side of the island by Rum Point, it's so much quieter.
Star1 Posted January 23, 2012 #9 Share Posted January 23, 2012 Take the city van for $2.50 each to Cementary beach. You can walk back to Tixi bar- an bit of a walk-have a drink( remember it cost a lot to drink on this Island) and take city van $2.50 back to ship. No bathrooms or food at Cementary beach but peace and quite. Research it on this board. To get van just walk from the ship to the left about 1 block. Make sure it is a van not a taxi-ask are you $2.50 to the beach per person??? If not it is a taxi and that cost more. Relax and enjoy.

cmjb4ever Posted January 23, 2012 #11 Share Posted January 23, 2012 Along this same topic, is it better to do an excursion with Carnival to a beach that includes chairs, food, drinks, and transportation, etc. or is it better to just do it independently by taxi? This Caribbean Beach Getaway includes Return air-conditioned transportation to the wonderful Tiki Beach Club located on Seven Mile Beach, with optional return times to choose from! A welcome orientation; welcome beverage; casual Beach BBQ served directly on the beach and beneath the palm trees; unlimited Caybrew Beer, Rum Punch, Fruit Punch & Sodas, and beach chaise lounge chairs are included within this tropical escape! so you see, it really is NOT really an all allinclusive. beer and punch. for almost 70 bucks a person I think you could do this kind of excursion a lot cheaper
cmjb4ever Posted January 23, 2012 #13 Share Posted January 23, 2012 is there one available through Carnival that offers you all that? Yes, I saw one called "Seven Mile Beach All Inclusive." Maybe I'm wrong with everything it offers though...
cruisinfanatic Posted January 23, 2012 #14 Share Posted January 23, 2012 Along this same topic, is it better to do an excursion with Carnival to a beach that includes chairs, food, drinks, and transportation, etc. or is it better to just do it independently by taxi? IN GC you can easily di it yourself. Taxis are very plentiful. At 7 mile beach, it can certainly get crowded around the drop off where the food and bar are, but if you walk a couple minutes one way or another, it will be just like this
TKDgirl2456 Posted January 23, 2012 #15 Share Posted January 23, 2012 I would say it's probably easier to just go independently and watch your timing so you don't miss the ship. Grand Cayman is a very safe island and the food/water is safe to consume, unlike on some other islands. It's British owned, so it's not as rough as some of the other islands you may visit (like Belize).
Cigar Dude Posted January 23, 2012 #16 Share Posted January 23, 2012 Royal Palms. Nice beach but expensive food and drinks. Figure $20 for a hamburger and a beer! Take the taxi. Pretty cheap to get there and back; around $4 pp each way...I think.
CincyLucy Posted January 23, 2012 #17 Share Posted January 23, 2012 We walked to the beach and ended up near presidents beach and the ritz. It was nearly empty. We just plopped down our towels which I prefer over a chair, and stayed there a few hours. We caught a city bus back to downtown, at lunch at a cafe with free wifi, and walked back to the ship. The entire day cost less then $25 and was the best day of all.
