Grand caymen

Crowded or not too crowded depends on time of day and number of ships in port that day. I've been to 7 mile beach when it was almost empty and I've been when you couldn't get into the water for all the people. Early in the day is the best time, swim early, shop later.

Take the city van for $2.50 each to Cementary beach. You can walk back to Tixi bar- an bit of a walk-have a drink( remember it cost a lot to drink on this Island) and take city van $2.50 back to ship.

No bathrooms or food at Cementary beach but peace and quite. Research it on this board.

To get van just walk from the ship to the left about 1 block. Make sure it is a van not a taxi-ask are you $2.50 to the beach per person??? If not it is a taxi and that cost more.

Relax and enjoy.

Along this same topic, is it better to do an excursion with Carnival to a beach that includes chairs, food, drinks, and transportation, etc. or is it better to just do it independently by taxi?

isExcursion Description 69.99 per person (??? wow thats expensive)

An enjoyable and relaxing way in which to spend your day in Grand Cayman with Family and Friends, on world famous Seven Mile Beach!

This Caribbean Beach Getaway includes Return air-conditioned transportation to the wonderful Tiki Beach Club located on Seven Mile Beach, with optional return times to choose from! A welcome orientation; welcome beverage; casual Beach BBQ served directly on the beach and beneath the palm trees; unlimited Caybrew Beer, Rum Punch, Fruit Punch & Sodas, and beach chaise lounge chairs are included within this tropical escape!

so you see, it really is NOT really an all allinclusive. beer and punch. for almost 70 bucks a person I think you could do this kind of excursion a lot cheaper

IN GC you can easily di it yourself. Taxis are very plentiful.

At 7 mile beach, it can certainly get crowded around the drop off where the food and bar are, but if you walk a couple minutes one way or another, it will be just like this

I would say it's probably easier to just go independently and watch your timing so you don't miss the ship. Grand Cayman is a very safe island and the food/water is safe to consume, unlike on some other islands. It's British owned, so it's not as rough as some of the other islands you may visit (like Belize).

We walked to the beach and ended up near presidents beach and the ritz. It was nearly empty. We just plopped down our towels which I prefer over a chair, and stayed there a few hours. We caught a city bus back to downtown, at lunch at a cafe with free wifi, and walked back to the ship. The entire day cost less then $25 and was the best day of all.
