Auto Tips on Carnival, Can We Add More?

Rather than giving extra cash at the end of the cruise, can we just add more onto the automatic tips on our Sign 'n Sail card?

 

We're taking some cash, but not a lot. It would be nice to be able to just add more to the auto tips, but not sure we can.

I've never heard of adding it that way. If you dont have the cash to hand out, you can get some in the casino by putting it into a machine and cashing out.

 

Better to just hand out cash over and above if you wish.

You can go to the front desk and have them add more. But they might also ask who to direct it to unless you want it to go into the general pool the regular amounts go to. I second the idea of just going to casino and using the player bank on the slots to get some more cash. No fee for doing this. Then you can give cash to whoever you want instead of possibly having a mix up with who the fornt desk thinks you mean.

If I remember correctly, with the automatic tips they still give you envelopes and a small stub showing the tip amount and it would either say "server", "assistant server" or "stateroom attendant", correct? So why would they ask you who the extra amount would go to. We would just tell them we want to add extra to each one of those who have been taking care of us for the week.

Since the advent of auto-tips, we've only had the envelopes with slips of paper for our one RCI cruise. I think on Carnival, if you pre-pay your tips, they give you those slips of paper, but we've never gotten them with auto-tips. We just take the envelopes and put money in those for the staff we extra tip for.

Only envelopes Carnival gives out are for the Maitre D. No other pieces of paper.
