tinker Posted January 26, 2012 #1 Share Posted January 26, 2012 We are sailing on the Jewel on 3/17 from NYC and just read this in regard to the parade that day. We are set to arrive at the dock coming from PA on a bus at 1:30. Probably better to arrive later than sooner that day but his parade is from 11-5:00? "The Parade starts at 44th Street at 11:00 am and is held every March 17th, except when March 17th falls on a Sunday, it is celebrated the day before, Saturday the 16th due to religious observances. The parade marches up Fifth Avenue past St. Patrick's Cathedral at 50th Street all the way up past the American Irish Historical Society at 83rd and the Metropolitan Museum of Art at 83rd Street to 86th Street, where the parade finishes at around 4:30 - 5:00 pm." Lollygil Posted January 27, 2012 #2 Share Posted January 27, 2012 Its a full day affair, 5 pm seems late but I guess they hold the permit to keep it going in case of delays.
peg013 Posted January 27, 2012 #3 Share Posted January 27, 2012 The Parade route doesn't come close to the cruise terminal so you should be okay. I would try to get into NYC prior to the parade but then we always try to be there between 10 and 10:30. When we cruised the same day as the Breast Cancer Walk there was actually less traffic than usual and it was also far enough away not to have any impact of the terminal.
