FLL, day before cruise, what to do???

Looking at booking airfare for our 8-11 cruise on Oasis of the Seas. Looking like we will be flying into FLL at 11am on the day before our cruise. Knowing that we cannot get into our room at Embassy Suites until mid afternoon we are looking to rent a car for the day. Question is, what is there to do in and around FLL for the day besides the beach? Where is a good location to eat dinner that night?

Las Olas Blvd has the nices cafes for the evening and it makes for a great strolling area. In the daytime, you could ride the water taxi loop (they give a guided tour of the waterways)....it takes up to 3 hrs total. ES can hold your luggage if there is no room available early in the day. If it's a rainy or chilly day, you could just go to Galleria Mall.
