pepcab Posted February 3, 2012 #1 Share Posted February 3, 2012 :confused:There will be 8 ships (including ours, Carnival Glory) in March on the island. We would like to go snorkeling and have a relatively peacful experience. I have done a little research and found two beaches that the locals prefer, but I don't know where they are in relation to the dock. Brewer's Bay and Great St. James? If anyone knows and can give me some information, that would be great. We will probably be renting a car as well. Thanks in advance.
O2B@Cagain Posted February 4, 2012 #2 Share Posted February 4, 2012 John Brewer's Bay is on the campus of the University of the Virgin Islands, west of the airport. It has some picnic tables and mobile food vans. Very popular with locals. Great St James is a private island off the eastern edge of St Thomas. You need a boat to get there. Another local beach is Hull Bay. There is a restaurant/bar and some good snorkeling. If there is a north swell, however, it is the surfing beach. mattyboy Posted February 7, 2012 #3 Share Posted February 7, 2012 just got back from St. Thomas and spent our afternoon at Emerald Beach - great food and drink at Best Western restaurant and only $7 for a chair at a quiet beach
