Help me with logistics of booking future cruise, please?

My sister and her 11yo son will be on the Inspiration tomorrow for a weekend sailing.

 

My family of four is going to book the March 2013 Panama Canal sailing on the Miracle. In addition, my nephew will definitely be going, with either my sister or my mom.

 

So... when my sister is on the Inspiration tomorrow, if she books the Panama Canal transit for herself and her son, will she get "friends and family" certificates for OBC/discounts that my family could then use to book?

 

Also, if she books the Panama Canal transit for our mom and her son - NOT herself - will she get friends and family certificates?

I believe she will have to include herself in an onboard booking, and yes , then you get certificate vouchers, which must be used within 60 days.

I dont think she can book someone else with a FCC as they are nontransferable.

 

She has to book and then gets two friends and family. Might be confusion as you get no discount (you mention discount/OBC). You only get OBC, no other perks with a FCC.

So the onboard booking is essentially the equivalent of purchasing a FCC and using it right then and there, yes? That would make sense that she couldn't book for our mom and her son, since Mom won't be on the cruise and FCCs cannot be purchased in minors' names.

 

Time to figure out if sis is going to the Panama Canal!

That is correct, and in addition you get 2 vouchers for friends or family.
