Just Back from Bermuda Cruise on the NCL Crown

comco - that's what one of our tour guides told us.

Joedog - we didn't see many kids, but this was 5/16-23, when many schools were still in session. Not sure about the kids' programs. You can probably check the NCL website for more details. Of course, much will depend upon your son's own interests.

Thanks for the great info.

What do you do at night while in port? I heard that the on-board shows can only be amateur night in port which may not be so great, and the casino was not open...

Are there land-side evening activities?

The reason I think Bermuda is perfect as a cruise destination is that you, in fact, can spend evenings ashore. I personally don't like port calls when you only have four or five hours in port.

If you like organized activities, if I recall correctly, there are several evening shore excursions in all of the ports. The only one I attended was the walking tour of St. George (led by the mayor), and it was very informative and entertaining... highly recommended.

What to do at night?

Check the shore excursion info on NCL's website. They do have a number of activities.

Plus, in both St. Georges and Hamilton there were street fairs.

<BLOCKQUOTE class="ip-ubbcode-quote"><font size="-1">quote:</font><HR>This is from some travel information:

Helmet Diving is Bermuda’s most unique underwater adventure! Imagine taking a leisurely stroll on a sandy bottom in 12-15 feet of warm turquoise water, amid spectacular coral reefs with inquisitive tropical fish feeding from your hand.

Helmet Diving is the safest way to experience Bermuda’s fascinating underwater world and requires no prior experience or training. It is an experience for the entire family. Swimming is not a requirement and so non-swimmers have a unique chance to view the underwater world. The helmet is constantly supplied with air and unlike snorkeling, your head stays dry allowing glasses and contact lenses to be worn throughout the tour.

Every dive is led by a fully qualified instructor who will ensure your Helmet Diving experience is the highlight of your visit to Bermuda. While underwater your host will give you a guided tour of a world inhabited by exotic sponges and fascinating corals. You will be encouraged to hand feed the myriad of tropical fish that show up on a daily basis to view the strange underwater guests! Imagine experiencing all of this without even getting your hair wet! Guests should wear a swimsuit, sunglasses, plenty of sunscreen, and take a towel from the ship.

Peppercorn is offered through the ship and there are other places such as Hartley's which I read about in another thread.
