Scrufsmom Posted February 20, 2012 #1 Share Posted February 20, 2012 We are set to sail on the Poesia on 2/28 and noticed that boarding is at 4pm. Can we get on board earlier? I'm curious who has been on this ship leaving from Ft. Lauderdale?

I'm curious who has been on this ship leaving from Ft. Lauderdale? About 12 noon from what other guests have told me. I went on this ship in Nov. and got to the pier at 2 walked right on. I understand it was very busy at noon.
RaceAddict Posted February 21, 2012 #3 Share Posted February 21, 2012 Yeah we saw the note about the boarding at 4pm on our paperwork as well... odd. When we sailed on the Poesia two weeks ago we arrived a little after lunch (1:30'ish maybe?) and had no issues boarding, and there were plenty of people already on before us, so evidently boarding had been going on for a while. Wimpinthewater35 Posted February 21, 2012 #4 Share Posted February 21, 2012 sailed Feb 4th out of Ft lauderdale We pulled upto the port security around 11:30 and inside the terminal by 11:50 checking in at the desk. Plenty of people ahead of us already onboard, by 12:30 the buffet lunch was a zoo.
sharecruises Posted February 21, 2012 #5 Share Posted February 21, 2012 2nd time around for me LOL MSC will try to tell you 3 or 4 pm BUT you can def get there early and get on, noon seems to be the time they actually board the ship does leave port at 7 pm, I think cause some people are flying in from Europe When you board they have an employee walk you to your cabin and you can drop off your carry on which is different and nice
Scrufsmom Posted February 22, 2012 Author #6 Share Posted February 22, 2012 That's interesting that someone escorts you to your cabin. Well, I'm happy to hear that we can board earlier then the 4pm time frame.
Capricruiser Posted February 22, 2012 #7 Share Posted February 22, 2012 When you come on board an MSC ship you'll be greeted by a staff officer and then turned over to one of a line of white-gloved cabin stewards who will escort you to your cabin and explain how everything works. That was not my experience last month on MSC Magnifica. I wasn't bothered as I'm pretty used to finding my own way to my cabin, but I was surprised given that I had seen several people refer to being shown to your cabin. I did board relatively late, but I wasn't in the last group to board. I don't know if that had anything to do with not being shown to my cabin. My cabin steward though did find me soon after I arrived and introduced himself to me. I had no questions about the cabin, but I'm sure he would have answered any questions I had if I had asked him anything.

Once was undestandable as the cruise had started a few days earlier and there were only 10 passengers boarding that day. So doesn't appear to be 100% across the board. MSC Cruises USA Posted February 22, 2012 #11 Share Posted February 22, 2012 Hello Cruise Critic Friends- Your documents do state boarding time at 3 or 4 pm; however, once the ship clears we begin embarkation. As long as there are no delays such as immigration or customs, boarding can usually begin around 12pm. HAPPY SAILINGS! MSC Cruises USA
