Thank you for the review, I really needed it! I have cruised on the Majesty and the Serenade of the Sea before, however, my hubby and 13 yo twin dd's have not ever cruised. We are cruising as a family on the Monarch Aug 3-6 (2) adjoining cabins. I have read a few reviews of the Monarch and they aren't favorable at all, so I am really nervous about this...I want them to have an amazing trip. I do understand the Monarch is an old ship and being retired next year, but what a perfect first cruise for them..... So I loved reading your positive review/trip report.:)

Thanks for the review; enjoyable read! I am taking the 4 day near the beginning of June, did they have any Spa "port day" specials?

The did have several spa specials!!! I think they are listed in the compass! I'll try to get that scanned today!!

I'll be on the Majesty in October. It is similar to the Monarch and stops at Coco Cay so I was happy to read your recent review. Did you bring snorkel equipment or were you able to rent it easily on the island?

Thanks!

We rented it on the island although I would prefer to have my own! The only thing I didn't like was having to wear the floatation vest!! Which I think u have to wear regardless if u bring your own or not!!

Thanks so much for posting the Compasses! Would you happen to have them in a format with increased resolution (or a PDF format)? When I enlarge them, they are really fuzzy and I can't read them. If not, no big deal. Just thought I would check. Thanks again!

and a ROOSTER....That was quite random!!

We will be on Majesty in November. Thanks for the info. You verified I probably don't want to visit the straw market.

As for the rooster, our domesticated chickens came from Red Jungle Fowl! I will have to watch for him to see if he looks like a domestic cross breed or a more "wild" cousin. Sorry, I'm just interested in chickens because after raising every other type of animal on our small farm, after 25 years, we finally got chickens. They are quite the characters. Funny to watch them run after me thinking I will have some tasty meal worms to feed them. I feel like the Pied Piper! And the eggs are yummy!:D

Seeing the compass gives me great memories... The wife and I have a wonderful aboard the Monarch for our anniversary last November. Trying the NCL Sky in a few weeks. These are great first time cruising ships.

There was a time for about a year or so that the 3 night Monarch cruise didnt even have a formal night :) The suggestion was "smart casual" and yes the dress code on that ship is very "relaxed"

I just booked the Monarch as I needed 2 points to get me Diamond.

I was wondering how many people skip the MDR and just do Windjammer for dinner. I really don't want to bother taking the kind of clothes I would wear on a 'normal' 7 night cruise as this really is just a quick get-away. I want to pack just one small carry-on.

Since the ship is in Nassau until midnight, how casual is the dinner that night? Do a lot of people stay off the ship and eat in Nassau?

Ok I searched and searched for reviews on this cruise before we left and was only able to find a few out there! So I tried to write down and take pictures of everything I could so that I could write a good review for this cruise! Let me start out by saying that we had an AWESOME time and I love this ship and all of her crew!!!! NEVER once was I disappointed in the service that we received!!!

Day 1

We drove down on Thursday night and stayed at the Country Inn and Suites. It was a nice place to stay with a great shuttle to port! Dwayne is so funny and makes the ride over even more exciting!! We arrived at port about 11:15. We quickly went through security (and on a side note....we had three rum runners in our carry-on and we never even got a second glance) and checked in in about 5 minutes! This was our first cruise as gold members so it was nice to have our own little section to sit in while we waited to board. We were boarding by 11:30! Once we got onboard we grabbed our unlimited soft drink package and headed to the Windjammer. Lunch was typical buffet stuff; nothing to write home about but not bad. After that we went down to add our friends to our table for dinner. We choose to do MTD for the first time and I would HIGHLY reccommed that! I never felt like we had to rush to dinner at night!!! Then off to the Spa to book a pedicure and Top to Toe treatment! Then off to the pool for a little while! It was overcast so we didn't do much laying out, only people watching! QUITE ENTERTAINING!!! After the Muester drill I headed to the spa for my pedicure. It was good but honestly I have had better at home for half the price. Then it was back up to the pool deck to find DH. He was having a little bit too much fun so I had to take him back to the room for a nap before dinner! :D We went to dinner at 7:45 and the food was great!!!! I had the scallop risotto for my appetizer, the lamb shank for my entree, and the tiramisu for dessert. After dinner we dropped some cash in the casino and then finished the night at the 70's party at Bolareos. That was alot of fun!!! Drew Devine is so much fun!!!

Thank you for the review, we are booked for the 18th . I FINALLY got my husband to try Royal (hes a carnival guy) Hoping he will like it enough to try others

I was worried when I went on my first cruise, too. So many bad reviews. I went on small ship and was assured by my TA that I would love it. She said if you have never been on a big ship, nothing to compare to, you will have a great time and I did! It was sooooooo much fun could not understand what people are talking about. I was nervous reading reviews and wanted to cancel - so scared it was going to be awful. I am now reading reviews of Monarch, how bad food is and so on... My friend was on Monarch last Oct and said food was great and loved the ship. I am sure you will have great time.
