jmomma Posted February 22, 2012 #1 Share Posted February 22, 2012 My brother will be turning 70 while on a Carnival ship and I'm looking for some suggestions on how to celebrate - besides just the usual ship's cake. There will be six of us traveling together. HELP!!!

klmorg Posted February 22, 2012 #4 Share Posted February 22, 2012 You could also purchase the Happy Birthday room decorations from the Bon Voyage department. Sounds kinda cheesy, but they look pretty good, and it's a nice surprise. http://www.carnival.com/BonVoyage/AddToCart.aspx?cat=Special+Occasions&pid=80E

misstopgun Posted February 23, 2012 #6 Share Posted February 23, 2012 I booked the Chef's table for my sister and brother in law to celebrate their 20th wedding anniversary. They don't know so I hope they will like it. If not, we will be going for the 4th time. For security I also ordered them a cake. LOL

Do you think they have one on Carnival's Legends? Good luck! I hope they love it!
Lady_Jag Posted February 23, 2012 #8 Share Posted February 23, 2012 For Mother's Day (2nd day of our cruise) on board the Glory a few years ago, I packed a bunch of cruise- and port-related giftees so that I could put together a gift basket to give to my mom. I don't remember all the items, but her basket included things like: - Umbrella - Insulated cup - Roll of quarters for casino (machines still took them back then) - Clothespins - Sunscreen - Lip balm - Dry erase board - Post-it notes & pen - Journal - Bottle of champagne I also brought a second bottle of champagne on board for sail away. We had some left over, so I had room service deliver a few cups of OJ to my cabin the next morning and I made us some mimosas. I then placed the mimosas and gift basket on the room service tray and presented it all to my mom at her cabin. I should mention that I drive to the port, so don't have a lot of restrictions when it comes to luggage. If you are flying, a gift basket is probably out of the question, so maybe get the Bon Voyage department to deliver some goodies? (Chocolate covered strawberries are so yummy!) Otherwise, maybe you can sign your brother up for the Behind the Fun ship's tour? Just keep in mind that it is a 3-4 hour walking tour up and down crew stairwells. One last suggestion - before you board, write a note to the Cruise Director on the ship, letting him or her know about your brother's birthday. Ask if they will please acknowledge it either at the Welcome Aboard show the first night, or on the morning show on the ship's TV. When you board, drop the note off at the Guest Services desk to the CD's attention. Have fun and enjoy your cruise!
