I'm going to be taking pictures on June 5, any requests? Also, Bill, if you have any questions, I would be glad to ask them while I am onboard. I don't get to sail, just a tour through a friend, so I won't be able to share cruise experiences, but I'll be glad to help in any way possible.

I got a peek at the balcony cabins on deck 9 (I think that's what you wanted) and they looked the same as mine on deck 11. I saw several different cabins, and I think they were all decorated in the somewhat subdued circus colors!

Zimmerjulie,

I'll be on board June 5, I'll be sailing. Too bad you can't come with me, my daughter just bailed and I'll be alone

zimmerjulie, next March (oh..so long) we'll be staying in one of the three middle aft cabins on deck 9. There are five cabin straight across the back. They are suites and the 3 middle ones should all be pretty much the same. if you can get any shots...I'd be thrilled to death. Wondering if the balcony is completely covered? how big? and what the cabin looks like.
Thanks so much

Jana,
if I didn't have a 2 year old and a healthy respect for the "rules", I just might consider stowing away . I hope you have a great time and meet some fun traveling buddies!

runninwild,
I will try to get a look at one of these cabins, although I do not know what will be open for viewing. I'll also try to get some pictures of them, if I can!

Take a look at these pictures! I saw them on another thread posted by bigsweeps. Amazing. They must have a wide angle lens, as my pictures of staterooms never encompass the whole thing like this. Beautiful!

I have photos and a lengthy review of our 5/22 cruise on the Spirit. I will be posting photos at Webshots starting this evening. The review is over 13 pages, so I may not post it all at once.

Hi

I will sort throught the pictures we took tomorrow and send any we might have. Probably only of the outside. We just got off the ship yesterday. It is very pretty. It is decorated in an Asian style with some beautiful oriental art. They have a sushi restuarant and a Benihanyna type restuarant. The Bistro (Fee) was absolutely fabulous but don't book on the day you do Traceys Arm as it will interfere with viewing the glacier which is awesome. (If you want to book excursions other than the ones the cruise offers email me.) Definitely have their chocolate fondue, it is to die for. There is a alternate dining place (free) called the Blue Lagoon that serves great won ton soup and shrimp fried rice. Maxims was also very good but not as good as the Bistro.

The Moulin Ropuge lounge is fabulous and only has a view obstructed seats. The shows were good and the comediene was really funny. The main restuarant is Windows and is beautiful. There are lines between 6-7:30 so plan around that. The buffet is just fair.

We were on the second sailing since it left Asia and there were some minor glitches but everyone is working very hard to get this ship right.

Embarkation is a nighmare. Here it is not the problem of the cruise lines it is the longshore men in Seattle. Have patience it will take some time to board. Getting on the ship while in port is also trying as the lines are long and slow. When you depart the ship you will be taken by bus to a holding area where you pick up your luggage. It is then your responsiblity to get it to your airline. There are smart cartes there for $2.00 each. Pricess has staff there that help you with this but NCL does not. This area they need to improve upon.

Overall we had a good time and I think this ship is a good alternative to Princess or RCCL. Freestyle cruising is exactly what is billed to be. Some people dressed up (the miniority) and other folks were casual 24/7. Hope you have a great time. Any other questions give me a shout.mary4165@bellsouth.net

Hi Natalie:

Hope you and Randall got home safe. We didn't get to FT. Lauderdale until 12M making it a long day. By the way everyone, Natalie and I were on the Spirit together last week. Natalie set up a get together with the Hotel Manager and his assistants and SuzyQ arranged that we should all meet at Henry the Black Pub on the first night at 5:30. It was nice being with people you had chatted with before the cruise. I look forward to reading your comments on the cruise. I've posted a little of what I thought and what might help future cruisers on the Leo/Spirit.

Hey Mary! We got home at 8 pm (CST) last night. I've been doing laundry since we walked in the door. And I have a huge pile to go to the cleaners now! Oh the price you pay for a 7 day cruise.

Anyhow, I had a blast. We don't plan on going back to Alaska, since we are warm-blooded and are more partial to anything where I can lay out by the pool.

I felt it really was neat getting to know everyone, and I feel like I've made some life-long friendships.

Oh, and I just posted my review on the Cruise Reviews board here. It was 13 pages, so beware...

When I spoke with my parents (they left yesterday on the Spirit) - they said they got on the ship very quickly and smoothly, and had no problems whatsoever. I was surprised - since I've read so many embark/debark posting problems in Seattle. Wife and I are on the Sapphire at the end of June - hope it is smooth! For other comments they had see my post on topic NCL Spirit - aka Superstar Leo.

Bill,I believe 10002 is the Malaysia Suite, which is the first one pictured on that link I posted. It looks BEAUTIFUL!!! I hope they haven't made any changes, it seems very nice just as it is shown in the pictures. I will try to get there and snap a few shots, if it is open! Those Caribbean cruises on the Spirit are really tempting...I love the itinerary. Dec 26 seems like it would be a great time to go, for lots of reasons. I think you are going to have a great time!

Spirit cruisers,
Thanks for the info on Seattle embarkation/debarkation. I will be sure to tell everyone in my group to expect delays, bring a book to read, etc, for check in. If it goes fast, GREAT! If not, they will be prepared for the hassle (I hope ).

Natalunia,
Glad you had a great trip! Will you post your review here on the NCL board, as well? Sounds like you put a lot of time and effort into it, and more people might see it if you post here too! I enjoy the pictures also, so I am looking forward to your latest batch!

We will also be in cabin 10002, but on july 24th.

I am computer challenged. You said that you posted your 13 page review, but I can't figure out how to access it.

Are there formal nights?? I was hoping black pants with a cute top might be sufficient for dinner attire. I always love when you read "smart casual" as the suggested dress attire listed by some of the cruise lines. I wonder if that is in contrast with stupid casual!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks, Ilene

Wow! I guess cabin 10002 is a popular one! I'll be in it on July 10th. I "chose" this room over the owner's suites because supposedly the captain points the front of the ship towards the glaciers and the cabins on the port side and aft won't get good views (the owner's suites are aft). Really, the only difference in ammenities is that you get 3 bottles of liquor and unlimited sodas stocked in your fridge in the owner's suite - but if I had to choose between a better view and those "perks", I'll choose the view any day.

What was typical attire for non formal nights? For the regular dining rooms is "resort casual" the equivalent of dockers and button down shirts? We've taken 8 cruises, but this is our first freestyle cruise. I'm assuming jeans and shorts are still not allowed in the main dining rooms in the evening?

Yes, dockers and polo shirt are fine. For women things like casual dresses, skorts, casual pants, or skirts are good. Women can get away with tank tops as long as they are not cotton t-shirt material and look a little dressy. Even though they say no jeans or shorts, you will probably see some people sneak in anyways. I have yet to see them turn people away. I personally like to follow the rules and if I wanted to dine in jeans or shorts, I would go to the buffet or grill.

Here's a link to the review. I hate to post it in several places and use up so much server storage space.

We were in suite 10000, the Phillipines Suite. It is the only one with a roof over the balcony. Very nice during the sawyer glacier part since it protects you from the mist or rain.

Natalunia -

Do they still have the suite perks that they used to? (The concierge would bring daily snacks or desert plates to the room, the butler would keep a good supply of water and soda stocked, flowers and champagne upon embarkation, etc.) I would really love to hear what perks you received!!! Thanks in advance!

We got the daily snacks in the afternoon, champagne, Evian water, and fresh flowers upon arrival, and terry cloth bathrobes. They did not keep Soda stocked. We didn't know they could, and we bought the soda card deal anyhow. Our butler, Maxi, was great. We became good friends with him and will probably go visit him in Bali in the next year or two.

Thank you to everyone for so many great details!!!!!

I have a few more questions. We will be in 10002 on july 24th. We were in the AB suites on the dawn & our butler's name was Denny-wonder if it's the same person that was mentioned in a review of the spirit.
1. What time did you arrive at the ship on embarkation day??
2. You said that the balcony in the forward suites did not have furniture out there. Are you able to get chairs if you do want to sit out there??
3. The pictures on line of some balconys look very shallow-are the forward suite balconys the same??
4. Do they provide you with a DVD library in the suites?
5. We have not found anyone on these boards who are going the same time as us-so it doesn't look like we have a cc meeting in our future.
6. how many formal nights are there and which ones were they?
7. Which dining hall was designated the formal dining room?
8..Were you cold in your formal wear at night?? I am always freezing, and a pashmina doesn't seem to cut it to keep me warm.
9. Is the time change as you get into ketchkan?? Is the time the same then until you get to prince rupert??
10. What are the times of the shows at night?
11. what time is dinner served until?
12. Did you notice any specials or promotions run in the spa or any mention of reflexology??

Thank you so much for all of this wonderful detail-It adds so much to our excitement in our trip planning.

Ilene
