Mommyof3boys Posted February 25, 2012 #1 Share Posted February 25, 2012 Due to a change of port on the Epic we no longer want to take th NCL tour. We are celebrating our 10yr anniversary and would like it to be more intimate. Unfortunately a private tour for just us would be over 500 euros. Thinking of renting a car a seeing the things we want to see. How hard is it to get around?

Rare Hlitner Posted February 26, 2012 #4 Share Posted February 26, 2012 It is not hard getting around if you also get yourself a GPS (you can usually rent one from the rental car companies). Keep in mind that most reasonably priced rental cars in Europe are manual transmissions. If you want an auto you will pay a premium. There are several major rental car offices in downtown Cannes such as Europcar and Hertz, but they are mostly located about a 25 min walk from the tender pier. Keep in mind that if you are heading to the east towards Nice and Monte Carlo and decide to use the local coastal roads (a fun route that takes you through lots of towns) you will encounter lots of traffic and delays (sometimes major). The fastest route to get around the this region is the A8 Autostrade which is a few miles inland. But the A8, like most of our interstate highways, is somewhat boring.
