Atlantis questions

Hi,

Can anyone give me information on visiting the Atlantis on your own. I know that there is a $25 charge that includes the dig and aquarium. Does it also include beach access? Are there showers there to remove sand and change before returning to Nassau and the ship?

Thanks.

I went to the Atlantis last week. You do not get beach or pool access without staying there. At every entry point there is someone standing there looking for room cards. I have heard that there are adjoining beaches (cabbage beach) that are suppose to be beautiful. We did not get out til later on that day and only had 2 hours to explore. But it is worth seeing the rest of Atlantis. it is a beautiful resort.

We actually did this in Jan. while on the Disney cruise. We booked a room at the Comfort Suites which is right across the street from the Atlantis Hotel. Comfort Suites guests have an all access policy with the Atlantis resort so it was worth it. This is very common to do.
The total cost was $150 for the 3 of us. If we had booked a day excursion through the ship it would have been $160 and it would not have included access to the pools and slides of the resort. This place was awesome. They have a great little water park there! I would definately do this again. We took a cab from the pier to the hotel for aprox. $14. Have fun! We went to Nassau this April for a longer day since our Nassau and private island days were switched due to sea conditions.

In Nassau, we took a taxi ride to the Atlantis and walked around the facility and looked at some of the dig that you do not have to pay for. Then we went to the beach that is next door, in front of the Sheraton since, as the previous poster said, we could not access Atlantis beach/pools without a key card. The water was very rough and we were tossed around quite a bit. After our kids having enough of the rough water we had lunch at the indoor restaurant that is in front of the aquariums at Atlantis. The food was wonderful, server very personable and our meals were not overpriced at all. I was actually surprised because I thought it might be a ripoff. We had great meals and a wonderful appetizer that was some sort of shrimp - forget what it's called but we could have cancelled the rest of our meal and just ordered a bunch of them!

After lunch we walked around the stores across the street from Atlantis and then grabbed a taxi and headed to the Queen's Staircase and lighthouse. It was a nice view from the top and not a bad walk back to the ship.

Overall, we had a nice day and would love to go to Atlantis for a land vacation.
