Internet on the vision of the seas ?

It seems it is difficult to find proper information about this. Some say yes but the connection is bad ,others say no. So is there a possibility to get online on your own laptop ? Are there wifi zones set up or do you have access from your own cabin ? If wifi zones, where are they ?

I'm travelling on a 14 day cruise in september and need to be able to get into contact with family during the cruise.

The connection is over satellite, so it is usually slow ... but that can also depend upon how many other people are using it, whether there are rough seas, etc. There will be wifi hotspots around the ship ... generally in lounges. I'm not sure when they refurbed Vision if they added bow to stern access so that you an access it in your cabin, so cabin access may just depend on how close you are to a hotspot. As for contacting family ... email should not be an issue, however video or voice chat may be more difficult or impossible with the connection speed.

We had large periods of a cruise with no signal and we were in Europe where there should have been excellent signal.

 

So no idea on the decent footprint.

 

Whereas sailing across the Atlantic had no issues with signal on a different ship.

In October 2011, while the Vision was in Turkey, Greece, and Israel, I didn't have any trouble with the wifi. There are a few hot spots around the ship, but, I found the Showboat Lounge outside the meeting rooms to have a good signal. The speed was fairly fast at that time in that area.
