Thanksgiving in St. Thomas

We will be in St. Thomas on Thanksgiving 2012. I know that Thanksgiving is a US holiday, but since St. Thomas is a US territory, does anyone know if the islands celebrate Thanksgiving. I am sure the many US citizens who live on the islands probably celebrate it, but I don't know if their government does.

 

We were there on a Sunday once, and the downtown area was shut down by 1pm.

Yes, Thanksgiving is celebrated. If there are cruise ships in port shops will be open. Some smaller ones may be closed and some may close earlier than usual however most should be open.
