Ladies, it's time for a Planning Update

Recommended Posts

Our save-the-dates went out a few weeks ago. Everyone loves them! I now need to work on the invitations and start selecting some days and stores to go dress-shopping. I'm not really looking forward to dress-shopping, so I'm really procrastinating on that one.

Why not?

Got my final confirmation paperwork signed and sent back in yesterday. It provided the location and approximate time of our ceremony. Now I guess I should call the dress store and find out when I'm supposed to take my dress in for its final steaming...

Wow its getting really close.

Done:

1. Picked up our marriage license. :D

2. I finished designing the invitations and have everything printed.

3. Thanks to VistaPrint, I got a banner for our welcome reception, & thank you cards for the OOT gifts. (They were free so I got 50.)

Next Months To Do's:

1. Pick a pair of shoes, for the wedding!! (Every time I see something I like, I end up wearing them before the dang wedding. LOL!)

2. Assemble and mail the invitations.

3. Select attire for the wedding party.

We got our marriage license recently too -- and (not wedding related but interfering with time to do other things...) bought a new house and moved in a couple of weeks ago! Mostly but not entirely unpacked. I do at least know where the wedding things are.

Stil need to: decide if I want to put buttermints into OOT bags or put them out at ceremony, assemble and address announcements, find a compact flash card reader that is compatible with my MacBook, and pack!

Why not?

I just don't like the process of trying on clothes. All the putting on and taking off and repeat. Maybe I'm just lazy. Lol! And there are so many choices! I don't want to start looking too early, buy something I like, then have dress regret later.

So with 3 months left until the BIG DAY, here is where I am with the planning:

1. Finally selected a dress for the AHR. (Super cute mini wedding dress. ) & my mom picked out her dresses too.

2. Purchased shoes for both events.

3. Had the first fitting of my wedding dress. OUCH, the alterations cost more than the dress!

4. Printed all of the wedding invitations and have them addressed.

Still to do:

1. Select attire for the rest of the wedding party.

2. Finalize menu for AHR. Order a cake for the AHR.

3. Complete the AHR and wedding favors.

Where are you in the planning?

They came out REAL nice woooooow... I have the same website, and order my STD too from Vista Print. .I guess alot of us are on the same train..

we are still 10 months away but I am such a planner it's really hard for me to wait to complete things.

Wedding website up and running :)

www.mywedding.com/amandandoug (got a lot of ideas for that from this website so if you see something that is similar to yours I probably stole it, THANK YOU!)

Save the dates sent (postcards from vistaprint)

Wedding colors are picked out: navy blue, hot pink and silver

Guests have booked with our TA (15 cabins not including us so far) our group booking deadline has come and gone but some people have still expressed an interest in booking this summer.

Once a guest has booked we sent them a postcard thanking them for booking and giving the rest of the payment deadlines and info.

I have started to gather items for our OOT bags (including custom canvas bags, pens, notebooks, keychains, hats and tshirts from vistaprint that were either free or paid for with a groupon).

Silk Flowers have been ordered on etsy from alexicgracedesigns Kim is amazing!!!! Here are some pics of my finished flowers that Kim has sent me

I Got my Save the Dates magnets from vista print and love them so thank you to all the brides on this site for helping me! So we are giving them out in a few weeks to give over a year notice. We also took a few engagement pics to put on the magnets! Also received a 10 dollar coupon that works in Canada! so i got the magnets for almost free!

Question: When will a coordinator be assigned to me? I know my wedding is far away so proabably why. I received all the paper work and have to hand it back in a week so i was curious when i would receive an email from my own personal coordinator does anyone know?

Thanks!

Megan

My carnival coordinator was the person who emailed all the forms to me. The welcome letter had the name of the coordinator and how to best reach her. My 'a wedding for you" coordinator contacted me a few weeks later. I was over 400 days too, so don't worry they will get in touch with you.

  • 1 month later...

On Monday, I put down the deposit on my dress. And today, we mailed out our invitations. Yay! I hope to get all RSVPs in (with booking numbers) before the end of October. I didn't want to push the date out any later since people might forget with the rush of the holidays. My family is composed of some serious procrastinators, though, so we'll see.

I've also been working on my pearl bouquet.

What's everyone else been up to?

So with less than 30 days left I feel like there is so much left to do.

But so far I've conquered the following:

At Home (Pre) Reception

Ordered the centerpieces

Set up a mtg to finalize all the last details

Wedding

Finalized song list for piano player

Ordered the cake and purchased the cake decor

Gathered everyone's DL# information

Received the personalized runner & flowers

AND my shower was just last wknd.

That's so close! How exciting! What are you doing for cake decor and centerpieces?

So have you actually held your pre-reception already or is it that you 're done planning it? We're considering doing a pre or post one but haven't really done too much on that front yet.

I know it's sooo surreal, that after a year it's almost here. WOW. No the pre reception is the night before the wedding and I'm done with planning it.

The cake decor I purchased from Hobby Lobby and Etsy and I sent a picture to my coordinator asking if they could do it. Hopefully, it will look like this

The centerpieces were these I got from Ebay to kind of go with my ship theme.

I was not impressed with the wedding planners i talked to they did not seem very excited or were very helpful. Hoping next time I call they will be better!
