JPEvans Posted April 22, 2005 #1 Share Posted April 22, 2005 I just finished watching QM2 pull out of NYC on Pied Piper's web cam. And it hit me! Exactly a year ago today, the Queen Mary 2 sailed into NY harbor for the first time. And I was there to see it. WOW!

transat_jon Posted April 23, 2005 #3 Share Posted April 23, 2005 I was there too : on board QM2. It was great to watch the old girl for six days as the two ships crossed to ocean together. This is something they should do again, next time I'd be on QE2, much more fun.
wripro Posted April 23, 2005 #4 Share Posted April 23, 2005 transat_john i agree. the QM2 may be new but the QE2 is a much better experience. She knows what she is, a true ocean liner, and doesnt try to be all things to all people like the QM2 does.
Transatlantic Tom Posted April 25, 2005 #5 Share Posted April 25, 2005 I was there on April 25, 2004 too...arriving aboard QE2 from Southampton !!! We departed Southampton 3 or 4 days after QM2 and ran into some very wild weather during our crossing, especially the first day out... A very cold morning arrival in New York, icy winds as we sailed up the Hudson River. Tom
Calliope Posted April 26, 2005 #6 Share Posted April 26, 2005 There in New York harbor I stood on the chilly wind swept decks of the QM2, and I watched the QE2 pass us at the begining of HER journey across the North Atlantic. The next morning I looked out of my stateroom's window and there the QE2 was about a mile off our starboard side! What a glorious way to begin any day. nathan Posted April 26, 2005 #7 Share Posted April 26, 2005 I think it was a year ago today that we had our CC party onboard QM2. Tonight I'll have to watch my home videos again from the once in a lifetime tandem crossing.
