citrusflorida Posted March 13, 2012 #1 Share Posted March 13, 2012 Hello. I read these boards almost daily and I have not been able to find an abundance of information about IOS. I looked at the individual ship reviews, of course, but I like to read threads as it gives me more of a "feel" for the ship. (I had no problem finding threads for the Navigator OS, which we sailed on in January.) We will be sailing IOS 01/19/2013 from FL. My one specific question I have at this time is: Do you have to make reservations for shows? I have never been on a ship that requires this, so son't know the procedure. If anyone can send me links, I would appreciate it. I really don't even care what the subject is, but I am especially interested in pictoral trip reviews. Thank you. The only ship you need to make reservations for shows is Allure and Oasis. You will need to get tix ahead of time ( a day ahead on board ) for the Ice Show if you wish to see that, but all other shows are first come - first served and open to all. andyc567 Posted March 14, 2012 #6 Share Posted March 14, 2012 Unless something has changed.... that I am unaware of I was on Indy 3 weeks ago, and no, you do not have to pre-book shows. We did find that they filled up quickly though, often full 15 mins before the show started.
CHAMPDDS Posted March 14, 2012 #7 Share Posted March 14, 2012 No biggie...but looks like at least the Freedom is doing it, and not just Allure and Oasis are doing it...(I am planning on a Freedom trip, so only reason I have researched it...) http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=1580615&highlight=reservations+for+show+on+freedom
truffles2 Posted March 14, 2012 #8 Share Posted March 14, 2012 Both Freedom and Liberty are using reservations for shows.
hotrock Posted March 14, 2012 #9 Share Posted March 14, 2012 I love the Indy. Our experiences were greatly enhanced b/c of the great staff. The shows were wonderful and the service in both the dining room and windjammer were the best we ever had. The ship itself is beautiful and we found it easy to get around. Hope you have a wonderful time.

Hope you have a wonderful time. I am so glad to hear this. I have been reading so many positive comments about the Liberty and the Freedom and I had hoped the same applied to Indy also. Our sailing is filling quickly and we have aft (very aft) insides and I am worried about the walking distances, but I will just consider it exercise and eat a lil extra dessert! golfer1966 Posted March 15, 2012 #12 Share Posted March 15, 2012 Both Freedom and Liberty are using reservations for shows. Wow...thats odd. I didnt think the other ships would do this as they dont have as many shows per se'.... Interesting... thanks !
truffles2 Posted March 15, 2012 #13 Share Posted March 15, 2012 Frankly I think it is totally unnecessary for Freedom class... and a pain. Now you have to get to the shows even earlier than before to get the seat you want. Of course, if I am sitting in the theater, I am NOT in the casino, shops, etc.
Calker Posted March 15, 2012 #14 Share Posted March 15, 2012 Definitely need reservations for Freedom. Reservations opened up for the shows about a month ago and earlier this week we were able to make Speciality Dining reservations for our May cruise on Freedom. My personal opinion: in a year or two we will be paying a fee for Speciality Entertainment options just like we do now for Speciality Dining options. I think this is the gradual introduction. citrusflorida Posted March 16, 2012 Author #15 Share Posted March 16, 2012 Another question I have is about her upcoming drydock I have just been reading about. This is supposed to be in Spring 2013 and we are sailing In January. Is she in need of repair? freshening up? or just adding features that she currently does not have? This news makes me want to find another ship. Thanks for any info you all may have.

I believe the drydock is to "Oasisise" the ship i.e. to add some Oasis class features such as a cupcake outlet etc. Freedom and Liberty(?) have been through a similar process recently. Nothing to worry about and I understand that the ship is still in good condition.

If you want those amenities, then I would think you would sail on the Oasis or Allure. Either way, good to hear. I really want the itinerary on IOS for that sailing (01/19/2013) and 8 nights will be great!
