View in Vista Lounge Balcony vs Vista Lounge

I'm asthmatic and sensitive to cigarette smoke so I'm trying to get to know our ship and map out the best routes to avoid smoking areas. If we go to the Vista Lounge, we can take the elevator at the very front to the Lower Promenade, but the Casino is nearby, so If we have to wait around for the Lounge to open, we may be smelling smoke. However, if we go to the Promenade Deck we can enter the Vista Lounge Balcony from outside without passing smoking areas. How is the view of the stage from the balcony compared to the lower lounge? Are there stairs inside the Vista Lounge so we can go down to the lower area from the Balcony?

Also, the HAL site says there is no smoking in the Vista Lounge DURING SHOWS. Does that mean they allow smoking in there during the day?

Thanks :)

I am just a little confused by your post in that I really don't know what ship you are considering. It makes a difference. Since you called the showroom the vista lounge I think you must be going on a vista ship. On a vista ship the main floor of the showroom is on the main deck. The first balcony is on the lower promenade as is the casino. The second balcony is on the promenade deck. You could catch the elevator on the Promenade deck and go to the main deck and into the show room. By doing so you would avoid the casino on the lower promenade.

There are stairs from the balconies to the main floor also. I think you would be happiest on the main floor because if smoke somehow got into the showroom from the casino the smoke would drift up. The elevator outside the main deck showroom would take you to any of the other floors.

It is my understanding that under the new smoking policy smoking is not allowed in the showroom at any time.

I understand exactly what you are saying as I have a high sensitivity to cigarette smoke, it only gives me nasty headaches thankfully though. No smoking in the Vista Lounge at any time and I find the view from the Vista Lounge balcony on the Westerdam perfectly fine if that will help you avoid the casino which notably is a smoke heavy environment. The smoke curtain can at times reach the entrance to the piano bar on deck 2 so using deck 3 as an entry way will avoid most if not all of this drifting smoke. Hope this helps. :)

Westerdam :) It's in my signature, but I guess some people have that feature turned off ;) Thanks for pointing out the Main deck lol somehow I missed that and only had it noted on the Lower Promenade and Promenade. The Main deck makes it easy since there is no smoking there :) Thanks!
