Car seat storage on excursions

Ok so my son, aged 1 at travel will have his own ticket on the plane, therefore I'm probably bringing his car seat on the plane. Just know he'll sleep better in it.

I can stow it in my cabin closet-not worried about that.

 

I can bring it in the cars/taxis for land excursions...but what do I do about while we're out...? I don't have a stroller that 'clicks' it in. I'm planning on probably bringing a cheap umbrella type.

 

Is my only alternative to pre-arrange private cars everywhere and rent one? Or just stow ours in the private car?

Maybe I should scrap the umbrella stroller theory and bring a stroller that the car seat can click in afterall.

 

Our ports are:Istanbul (4 days), Ephesus, Mykonos, Athens, Sicily (taormina), Sorrento and Barcelona (3 days).

If you have a car/excursion vehicle, you can leave it in there. You won't be able to leave it in a taxi, unless you hire it for the full time you're out and about!

 

If your excursion vehicle is a bus, there's really no way to use a childseat...leave it on the ship.

I haven't been to those ports, but I have found that asking people the question usually results in some sort of solution. Sometimes it is storing it at a venue, other times in the vehicle we came in, and other times it was attached to the stroller. I do like traveling with a soft structured carrier, so that if I need to use the stroller for the car seat, I still have an option for carrying my young one around.

I bought a Gogo babyz Travelmate which is a cool little gadget that hooks to the bottom of the car seat to turn it into a stroller of sorts. I primarily used it in the airport & at the cruise terminal because we always book private tours where I can leave the car seat in the van all day. I think it could also probably work when you needed in place of a stroller.
