Civitavecchia but not going to Rome?

We are travelling with another couple and have all been to Rome a few times. 3 of us now are a little limited in our abilities to walk far and are thinking of having a car with driver for around four hours to see the countryside, perhaps visiting Tarquinia.

Does anyone have experience of doing this and if so, how would we go about it? All roads point to Rome and we don't want to take a ship's tour.

Thanks.

I have done a "Countryside" tour with Romeinlimo. It was very nice and very low key. My daughter and my mother had limited mobility on our trip in 2009 and so this was a great option for us post cruise. I have also done a tour through Ostia Antica. This year there are many of us that have been to Rome and we are taking Romeinlimo's Orvieto tour. This will be a new tour for me.

There are several options besides going into Rome. Good luck deciding on one:)
