What meals are included?

Bring $$$$$ or of course a credit card! No meals on the land portion are included. And from experience a few years ago and from reading these boards, the meals will cost more than the equivalent in the lower 48--- not a surprise considering.

Eating on the train was a lot of fun and best I remember, the food was pretty good.

Meal charges on the land portion are extra. We found the food and menus on the train and at the Princess hotels and lodges to be very good. As part of our package, Princess did include dinner one evening on the train, but every other meal was extra. Many things are more expensive in Alaska, but we thought that we got good value throughout the trip. We were very impressed at how well organized the land portion of our cruisetour was.

Definitely budget in a bunch extra for meals. We visited Alaska on a cruise tour back in 1994 and I can still remember the $25 breakfasts for ONE. Dinner was out of this world in price. So, be prepared for some of the highest prices you may have seen in years in the U.S. No cheap meals that we found anywhere in Alaska. :(
