Cruiser733380 Posted April 1, 2012 #1 Share Posted April 1, 2012 DH and I will be in staying in Old San Juan prior to our cruise and we are looking for an authentic Puerto Rican restaurant that serves good mofongo and great mojitos. Thinking of Cafe Puerto Rico. Any thoughts or suggestions?

kcparrothead Posted April 2, 2012 #3 Share Posted April 2, 2012 I've done a lot of research on your subject and found this :D: Punta de Vista – right by the ship - Address: 1 Calle Juan Antonio Coretejas - 2 for 1 Mojitos, Shrimp Mofongo – (4-5 stars on Tripadvisor – reviews say to look past the beer signs & plastic tables & chairs – they have excellent food and mojitos)

cv322 Posted April 8, 2012 #6 Share Posted April 8, 2012 I realize that I'm late to the conversation, :o ... but I would also recommend El Picoteo at the El Convento hotel.
kcdancerkc Posted April 18, 2012 #7 Share Posted April 18, 2012 Ask a local or guide where THEY go for lunch --- then you get the real deal not the pricy tourist version

We loved this place!! Great food, the mojitos were so good and the owner is so friendly. It was so pleasant sitting outside watching the cruise ships leave and enjoying the beautiful evening. We happened to be there on St Pats day and he was telling us all the green things he had. It was funny. He is actually from the states originally. I had way too many mojitos that night though.:( Nothing fancy but the food and drinks were great.
